A 3-Day Wedding in Italy, Full of Peonies!

“We had a 3-day affair. The first night was in a modern, secret club located in the centre of Rome. The Neoclassical wedding villa itself was in a panoramic position overlooking Rome. And the final night we transformed a typical Roman trattoria into an amazing dinner and dance party!”

We met… in Los Angeles at a dinner party.

Our proposal… Michael arranged with my family and popped the question in front of everyone at my parents’ house. Just the way I wanted!

Our wedding theme/colours…  Light pink, dark pink, green, white. Orchids, hydrangeas, and lots of peonies!

Things we DIY’d/made ourselves… our gift box. We bought a white vintage-looking chest and decorated it with flowers.

My dress… I had 2 dresses. Both were Monique Lhuilliers. The first one that I wore at the ceremony was big and puffy with lace. And the second one had hints of Champagne in it for the reception.

My hair and make up… Jorge Serrano, my friend and celebrity stylist, flew from LA to do my hair. My makeup was done by Stefano Comelli, an amazing Rome-based make up artist.

His suit… Custom made in Los Angeles.

What our bridal party wore… I had 9 bridesmaids. In order to allow my friends and family the utmost flexibility, I asked them to wear whatever they want so long as it was long and in vibrant colors. One out of 9, my sister’s dress was also Monique Lhuilliers. 3 of them were wearing Oscar De La Renta, 1 was wearing a peach dress by Elie Saab.

Our ceremony… we had a Persian ceremony. The ceremony was officiated by my husband’s father’s childhood friend, Dr. Said Mahmoudi. He is a well-known law scholar and former dean of Stockholm university law school. As 2 lawyers, we were grateful to have our wedding ceremony officiated by such a renowned attorney and close family friend.

We chose our photographer because… his pictures always have a very dramatic effect. He also is a big fan of natural poses and hates when you pose for him!

We chose our wedding coordinator because… she was warm, sweet, and always so on top of it!

We chose our venue because… the beautiful gardens and the panoramic view of Rome.

Our menu… a rich buffet of Italian delicacies.

Our honeymoon… Lake Garda, Italy

My favourite part of the wedding day… when I was walking up to my husband with all our families and friends witnessing our union.

My piece of advice for other couples… Take it easy! It’s only one night!

We decided on a destination wedding in Italy without really having any contacts there. We both knew that a traditional ballroom wedding was not for us. Italy, with its beautiful villas and warm people, stole our hearts. Amazing thing was we managed to bring 150 of our friends and families there.

We had a 3-day affair. The first night was in a modern, secret club located in the centre of Rome. The Neoclassical wedding villa itself was in a panoramic position overlooking Rome. And the final night we transformed a typical Roman trattoria into an amazing dinner and dance party! We loved the mix of styles, from sleek, to Italian opulence, then traditional!
