A Beautiful Garden Wedding Centred Around Family

“It was absolutely beautiful, outside in the garden in the Clanard Court Hotel. It was 30 degrees that day (the hottest day in Ireland in the last 15 years).”

Couple: Kellie & Liam Gardner
Engagement length: 1 year
Wedding date: 2021-07-21
Wedding location: Clanard Court Hotel

Liam is a musician so he and Kellie met through the music scene at the time. Kellie’s mother was sadly diagnosed with end stage lung cancer March 2020, so they decided they should get married before she passed away. Kellie went back nursing during the pandemic and ended up with Covid so while she was isolating away from her family and her Mam was in hospital, she and Liam sent each other photos of rings back and forth. Then when she got home, Liam staged an engagement in the Phoenix Park under a tree in front of their two children.

“We didn’t have a theme, because we didn’t have time to plan a wedding. The most important thing to me was that my Mam was there and unfortunately even after a marriage notification exemption, she didn’t make it.”

Kellie and Liam went for a timeless classic look. Kellie wore a satin ballgown and Liam and his best man wore tuxedos.

The Maid of Honour, Elaine wore a dress from Boohoo. Their daughter’s dress was bought on Etsy by a dressmaker in Poland and their son’s outfit to match his Dad was bought in Next.

“We had a civil ceremony as we are a non-religious family. It was absolutely beautiful, outside in the garden in the Clanard Court Hotel. It was 30 degrees that day (the hottest day in Ireland in the last 15 years). We wrote our own vows and chose readings that reflected our our values and beliefs.”

“The Clanard Court Hotel were great. As we were organising a wedding last minute (originally) and on a budget, they did their best for us. They did all the decorating and the table plans etc. which was one less thing I needed to organise. The place looked beautiful, guests were commenting on how beautiful the hotel was and the food… endless amounts of food.”

“I feel very privileged to have gotten Dez as our wedding photographer. He is very talented at what he does and he was incredibly kind to me and so accommodating after my Mam died and I had to rearrange the wedding numerous times.”

Instead of favours, they organised a photobooth!

Liam and Kellie’s favourite part of the day was the whole ceremony and exchanging vows in front of their children. They say it was just magic. They also enjoyed going off for photographs in a classic jaguar.

“Don’t get yourself into debt for the sake of one day that’s gone in the blink of an eye. You can still have your perfect day on a budget so shop around. Take time out during the day (10 minutes to yourselves) just to just soak it all in. And hire someone to do your ceremony music to avoid any hiccups on the day (that’s our only regret).”
