Chris and Karen met on a night out in Dublin City.
“Chris planned the proposal at home, with our two daughters and chocolate labrador, Sid. I was told to get ready to go out for lunch and when I came down to the kitchen our two daughters, my now husband and Sid were there. Sid was kitted out in a bowtie and proposal dog tag saying ‘Will you marry my Dad?’. Obviously, through all the very happy tears it was a big yes. We then went to celebrate at one of our favourite restaurants, The Saddle Room.”

The colour theme they went for was ivory, dusty rose, navy, burgundy.

Karen went for a simple designed ivory dress which hugged her figure in all the right places. It had a sweetheart neckline and draped sleeves. It was coupled with an elegant ivory veil with ivory pearls in her hair. She wore four inch ivory satin sandles and elegant, pearl drop earrings and a bracelet watch.

Chris chose a navy blue, fine wool suit with a handmade tweed waistcoat and burgundy tie. It was paired with brown leather belt, brown leather shoes and a silver watch with navy face.

The flower girl wore an ivory dress with dusty pink belt and ivory socks and shoes. The junior bridesmaid and bridesmaid wore a dusty pink dress and silver glitter shoes.

“Our ceremony was intimate. There were 24 people there including ourselves due to the government restrictions at the time. Our other friends and family who could not join us in person, watched our ceremony via a live stream. It was important to us that our ceremony was very personal, with our ideas of our perfect ceremony being brought to life by our celebrant. Our ceremony venue was styled with cylinder vases and candles and flower arrangements.”

“We only viewed our reception venue 6 weeks before our special day as we re-planned our whole day within that timeframe. We changed ceremony and venue locations due to the government restrictions at the time. Once we walked into our reception venue, we instantly knew it was right for us and it never felt like a compromise to our original venue. It is lovely and relaxed with great food and drinks, great atmosphere and amazing staff who bent over backwards to ensure we had the most wonderful day. We again styled the reception with candles and flower arrangements.”

Ronan has an unbelievable talent for capturing the story of your day and worked effortlessly with our photographers. He also captures the true emotions and feelings of our day and we are beyond delighted with our wedding film. It’s such a gift to this record of your day to watch back forever. He too was so sound and very relaxed to be around on the day.”

For their entertainment, they had Claire Malone singing at the ceremony and drinks reception. Claire stayed for the evening entertainment and performed with the band she sings with, Gossip Band. They went for the Irish Cancer Society wedding favours as Karen’s Mam passed away from cancer in December 2010.

Our favourite memory was seeing each other for the first time walking up the aisle. For us, the commitment to each other and our daughters was the most important aspect of the day. With all the stress and uncontrollables in the lead up to the day, once we had seen each other all that stress disappeared and we instantly relaxed.”

“Our advice for other couples is to focus on what is most important for you both. Just relax and enjoy every moment, not forgetting to take a step back during the day to take it all in as time flies by. An intimate wedding for us was filled with such genuine happiness and love from all our friends and family. It also allowed us to have the luxury of relaxing and enjoying time with each other and our nearest and dearest.

We completely understand that re-planning a wedding and all the uncertainty regarding numbers of guests and last minute government restrictions doesn’t go without its immense stress but for us, the most important thing was to make the commitment to each other and our daughters. For those who weren’t able to be there in person, we will celebrate with them when we can…lucky us we get a second celebration!”
