Claire and John met in 2016 in a pub while they were both out with friends. They got engaged in 2019 while on holiday in Croatia in a stunning National Park called Plitvice.

“We didn’t really have a plan to begin with. My sister lives in London and as my bridesmaid, I asked her to keep an eye out for a dress she liked. She found a beautiful berry red beaded dress and my other bridesmaid loved it so we ordered those. So I suppose it fit nicely with a Christmas wedding. My flowers were pink and white roses and the venue had white drapes with lights as our backdrop for the ceremony so it was a romantic soft pink and white theme with Christmas red.”

Claire’s dress was a full length beaded Don O’Neill dress which she bought from Folkster. It had an old-style Hollywood look!

The bridesmaids both wore a full length beaded berry red dress from Monsoon.

They had a non-religious ceremony conducted by Antoinette Coleman-Kelly. Antoinette collaborated with John and Claire to create a ceremony that was joyful, fun and involved their family and friends.

Their venue of choice was Ballykealey House, a beautiful 19th century house with fabulous gardens and a modern ballroom. The ballroom has a gorgeous wall of glass that looks out onto the foundation. John and Claire love the mix of old style charm and modern elegance.

Claire’s favourite memory from the day was seeing John for the first time. They met up before the ceremony and before getting photos with family. It was just the two of them with their photographer and they were so happy to just be getting married, that seeing each other settled their nerves.

“I would say once the day arrives forget all the small things and let others around you take the pressure off you. If someone offers to help, give them a job! The less you have to think about on the day the better. Definitely find time for just the two of you to take a moment to take it in that you are married.”
