Your Names: Miriam & Andrew Heyes

Length of engagement: 2 years

Wedding Date: 2019-10-11

Wedding location: The Brehon Hotel & Spa

How did you meet and get engaged?
We meet in Paramount Bar in Aberdeen. We got engaged at the top of the Forth Rail Bridge, Firth of Forth, Fife, Scotland.

Describe your wedding:
We went for a simple classic theme of ivory and greens in the flowers and buttonholes, combined with dark navy blues in the groomsmen’s kilts and bridesmaids’ dresses. These complemented the ivory wedding dress and Andrew’s ancient hunting MacAuley (family tartan) dark green & black tartan.

Tell us about your bridal look:
I wore an Ebony Rose – Amber – dress in Ivory with a cathedral length veil. My hair was done by Upstyle Junkie and makeup was by Andrea Murphy of Makeup by Andrea, Ballincollig, Cork. Both Audrey and Andrea were a dream to work with and made it all an amazing experience. Both looks were very traditional and natural in style and look and lasted well into the early hours of the following morning.

What did your bridesmaids wear?
Antoinette, chief bridesmaid and bridesmaid Joanne, the bride’s sisters, wore floor-length navy blue, lace fishtail from Quiz.

What was your ceremony like?
A beautiful, warm and loving ceremony in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney. Fr Seamus Kennelly celebrated the ceremony. Music performed by Ryan Morgan (Tenor) accompanied by a cathedral organist. The bride was piped up the aisle to Highland Cathedral by Cullen Bagpiper Con Houlihan.

Tell us about your wedding venue:
The Brehon Hotel & Spa was a very warm and welcoming venue for our wedding celebrations. We received first class service and our guests loved it. From the initial meeting to the day itself The Brehon – Sharon Devine our wedding coordinator and her team could not do enough for both us, our families and guests. Amazing food & service. We could not recommend it enough.

What is your favourite memory from your wedding day?
We have two favourite memories. The first was being piped up the aisle to Highland cathedral by Con with my Father, Simon. The second was the amazing and loving welcome our guests gave us as they waited on the mezzanine in The Brehon when we arrived back after getting our pictures done.

Have you got any advice for other couples?
Enjoy the planning, spend time with each other and have fun!
