A Cosy Christmas Winter Wedding

“Well our wedding theme was a summer wedding initially. However Covid happened, and we delayed our wedding & ultimately changed the theme to become a Christmas winter wedding.”

Couple: Lynne & Kevin
Engagement length: 2 Years (approx)
Wedding date: 2020-12-03

Lynne and Kevin met at work and got engaged in New York City.

“Kevin surprised me with a trip to NYC where he popped the question in Central Park.”

“Well our wedding theme was a summer wedding initially. However Covid happened, and we delayed our wedding & ultimately changed the theme to become a Christmas winter wedding.”

Lynne wore two dresses; one that was big and fairytale-like, while the second was slim fitting and more a night time affair. Kevin wore a velvet tux to fit the Christmas theme.

The two bridesmaids wore beautiful full length pale green dresses (the initial summer theme didn’t change here). The groomsmen all wore tuxes, but let Kevin stand out in his velvet tux.

“Our ceremony was beautiful. I was late of course and the priest initially got worried, but all was good. We had only 25 guests at our wedding (Dec 2020) so it was intimate.”

“We loved Rathsallagh House. From the location, to the Christmas decor, to the amazing staff. Everything just worked out perfect for us from start to finish. They allowed us to forget about Covid19 for a day and celebrate.”

Their photographer was the amazing John Channing.

“John was great & I would highly recommend to any other future couple. As mentioned, our first summer wedding was cancelled and John kindly did a photoshoot in Rathsallagh House on the day of our first attempted wedding. Then he took amazing photos of our actual Big Day in December 2020. He even came back to take photos for our day 2 to ensure he caught every minute of the action. He was friendly, approachable yet discreet and really easy to work with. We got the pictures from him in a timely manner which allowed the excitement of the wedding to continue and will be fond memories on our home walls for years to come.”

For their favours, Lynne and Kevin chose chocolate (Lily O’Briens) because they simply love chocolate. For entertainment, they had Barry Hughes play beautiful music at both the church and the reception drinks for guests. They did not have a wedding band due to Covid 19 restrictions.

Lynne’s favourite memory is getting to the church (albeit late) and seeing her now husband. Just being able to breathe, relax and enjoy the day. Kevin’s favourite memory is seeing his beautiful bride for the first time.

“If you are considering not getting married because of Covid restrictions or have concerns about smaller weddings, simply don’t. While it may be nice to have 200 people at your wedding, that all doesn’t matter in the end. Once you, your better half, and your family are there that is all that matters.”
