The wedding colours were navy and burgundy. We love the navy outfits for the groomsmen and the burgundy for the bridesmaids.

Couple: Aurelita Eakins & Shane Lambe
Length of engagement: 7 years
Wedding date: 29 Nov 2019
Wedding location: Darver Castle
Photographer: Paul Duane Photography

Shane and Aurelita met in July 2006, in the Fiddlers nightclub, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan at a junior disco. “We both set eyes on each other early that night. The following day through a friend, we exchanged our phone numbers. After a week or so we arranged to meet up. Week after week, the casual meetings lead to cinema dates, disco partners and dinner dates. Both of us attended different secondary schools in Carrickmacross. Even though our schools were some distance apart, we still managed to make sure we made eye contact before and after school as our school buses would meet in the mornings and afternoons. Before we knew it, we were officially a couple.”

On Sunday 8th July 2012, the weekend of Aurelita’s 22nd birthday, Shane proposed. Shane surprised Aurelita by buying her engagement ring, without her knowing. They went out for a lovely meal together and after their meal, went back to Shane’s house. Just before they decided to go to bed, Shane got down on one knee and asked ‘Will you marry me?’ while holding the ring box in his hand. Aurelita was in absolute shock and couldn’t believe her eyes, but she said ‘Yes’ as soon as she could!

The wedding colours were navy and burgundy. We love the navy outfits for the groomsmen and the burgundy for the bridesmaids. “As our wedding was the end of November the Christmas decorations were up in Darver Castle so we carried the Christmas theme throughout the planning of the wedding.”

Aurelita’s dress was a beautiful Mark Lesley wedding dress. She selected a crepe, figure-hugging dress with an amazing illusion neckline and gorgeous illusion bodice. The sleeves were adorned with beautiful hand-beaded lace and finished with a pearl button cuff. The bodice gave an amazing back silhouette and was finished with a pearl button fastening.

Shane wore a Benetti three-piece suit. His jacket was light blue in colour which contrasted well with the navy suit. A white shirt, a light blue patterned tie and matching pocket square, finishing off with tan shoes.

The Groomsmen wore a navy three-piece suit, a white shirt, a burgundy tie and matching pocket square, finishing off with tan shoes. The Bridesmaids wore burgundy red dresses in a mermaid style off the shoulder, sweep train with beaded sequins. They also wore rose gold earrings.

“Our ceremony was held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. We had Katie Hughes as our wedding singer along with her husband on Piano and a violin player. We had special moments throughout our ceremony which were very personal to us. One of those special moments was a remembrance tree for all deceased members of our families.”

“Our wedding was held in Darver Castle in the countryside of Co. Louth. Darver Castle is run by the Carville family who make your wedding day the most memorable day of your life. The castle provides a unique homily setting for all your guests. I would highly recommend booking your wedding day in such a welcoming and homely setting. It is a must for viewing, believe me, when you step inside the doors of Darver you too will feel the fabulous atmosphere both inside and out of this setting. Food and service were second to none. So delighted We chose Darver Castle.”

“We chose Paul Duane Photography because we wanted a photographer that was very much relaxed and to capture natural photos. And that wish came true for us. Paul was exactly that. He blended into the background so well and captured so many photos of us and our guests throughout the day as we experienced the real moments of our wedding day.”

For their wedding day entertainment, Aurelita and Shane gave guests hot whiskeys and prosecco on arrival. They had a sweets table and a Forrero Rocher pyramid because everyone loves something sweet! Everybody was entertained by their five-piece band, The Cufflinks.

“The whole day was just unbelievable. We both loved everything from waking up to fab weather that morning, to the night time cap and treats that was arranged for us by the staff of Darver Castle which was around 4 o’clock the following morning.”

“Enjoy the build-up to the wedding. It is such a lovely time especially when friends and family are calling to visit. Enjoy the whole day itself as it goes by in the blink of an eye. Take time out, if it is just 5 minutes to sit and chat to each other, it is a lovely thing to do. We did this as Paul our photographer recommended it and it was lovely to have that moment together to stop and chat about the experience.”
