What better way to celebrate 10 years of being together than with a fabulous New Year’s Eve black tie wedding? That’s exactly what Rebecca and Nathan did! Since they’re both fans of music, they found plenty of ways to play all their favourite songs. You’ll love some of their wedding ceremony choices!

Rebecca and Nathan’s love story began way back in 2012, when they met on Facebook! Fast forward to their 7 year anniversary on the August Bank Holiday Weekend of 2019. It was their first time at Farnham Estate and they were looking forward to just relaxing and chilling out for the weekend.

Here’s the rest of the story from Rebecca’s perspective:

“Nathan had planned on proposing down by the lake on a lovely walk. But Ireland being Ireland it started to lash out of the heavens. I refused to go out in the rain and ruined his surprise proposal. So poor Nathan had to improvise. Just as we were about to go down to the spa, Nathan said my anniversary gift was in the wardrobe. I couldn’t find it, and as I turned around to tell him it wasn’t there, Nathan was on one knee – both of us in our swim suits and robes – asking me to be his wife.”

They had their Big Day on New Year’s Eve in 2021 and they say it was the best day of their lives! After 10 years, they officially became Mr and Mrs Murphy and they are over the moon.

To celebrate, they hosted a fabulous black tie wedding with their friends and family.

Rebecca wore a beautiful dress from The Bridal Studio in Drogheda. We love that it was only the second dress she tried on, and isn’t it so perfect?

Nathan chose a navy suit with a black trim.

The bridesmaids wore dusty pink dresses with a cap sleeve, which Rebecca found at JJs House. The flower girl dresses and page boy suit are all from Monsoon.

They opted for a Spiritualist Ceremony with a big focus on music! Some of their ceremony music choices include The Smiths, Foo Fighters, My Girl, the Up theme song, Everlong and At Last by Etta James.

In addition to the music, they found creative ways to add personal touches and unity ceremonies to the festivities: “We had a hand fasting ceremony, a love letter ceremony and ring warming.”

Their beautiful wedding venue was The Conyngham Arms in Slane. Rebecca and Nathan describe their venue as “a beautiful little quaint boutique hotel” and we couldn’t agree more!

To capture their wedding day, Rebecca and Nathan chose R&E Duo Photography and Symmetry Productions, who often work together!

“Stephen, Derek and Eddie are a great time and made us feel so comfortable in the day. They were so chilled out and really made me and my hubby feel so relaxed. They also had a lovely surprise of sparklers and a video/photo shoot towards the end of our night.”

Since they are both big music fans, they chose to spend money on something they knew their guests would love: The Dublin String Quartet. What perfect wedding day entertainment? They also spoilt their guests with scratch cards as wedding favours.

We love asking couples about their favourite wedding day memories. This is what Rebecca had to say:

“My favourite memory is taking some time to myself and my hubby before the meal and taking it all in. Our first dance was also so memorable.”

This is what Rebecca and Nathan have to say to other couples planning their wedding:

“Don’t stress. Although it was one of the most stressful things we did in our lives (the organisation, the planning), it was so worth it in the long run. Myself and Nathan didn’t even get to cut our cake and we didn’t even notice until the next day! Haha. Have the time of your life and enjoy yourselves! It goes by in a flash.”
