A Romantic (Short Notice) Rearranged Wedding

Articles, Real Weddings

“A massive thank you to this group, the Dublin registry office, our venue and suppliers, our family and friends and the weddingsonline/HIGM team, for making our (short notice) rearranged wedding day an absolutely fantastic experience.”

Couple: Rory & Sharon McDonald
Engagement length: 3 years
Wedding date: 2022-02-11
Location: Wrights Findlater Howth
Photographer: Mark Griffin Photography

“First up (she was at our home at 7AM due to a very busy schedule) was MUA and hairstylist, Nicola Weldon. She was absolutely brilliant and Sharon was delighted with her work and how much she made her feel at ease.”

For their wedding day looks, Sharon opted for vintage, while Rory chose a ‘functional’ Magee suit from Collar & Cuff.

“Our ceremony was quick, except for the interruption from our 4 year old.”

“Sharon absolutely loves Howth so it was poetic that we would choose Wrights Findlater with its fantastic food and stunning views. The staff were absolutely wonderful to deal with and we were delighted to be looked after so well. Very special thanks to the manager Sergiu who epitomised going the extra mile for us.”

Rory and Sharon’s wedding was beautifully captured by Mark Griffin Photography.
“I was absolutely thrilled when Mark Griffin confirmed his availability as I’ve known him for a long time and absolutely love his work. We were blown away by the images he sent us so far.”

“The drinks reception music was absolutely gorgeous and Denise’s version of ‘Tale As Old As Time’ (from Beauty & The Beast) was absolutely perfect for our ‘afternoon’ first dance.”

“For the 8PM drinks we asked Connor McKeon and his guitarist Mike Brookfield to do a laid back set as we are too old to ‘Rock the Boat’ and we had a small number of guests. I’d heard Connor sing Tom Baxter’s Better a few years ago and it always stuck with me, so it was perfect for our evening’s first dance. He and Mike were magnificent, I know everyone there really appreciated their excellence.”

“Do your day your way, learn to manage other people’s expectations politely but firmly. We didn’t have any issues like that but I know of many who have and wished they’d done things a little differently in hindsight.”
