A “Simple Elegance” Wedding With Orchid, Pink and Blue

Their wedding colours were orchid, pink and blue. The theme was “simple elegance”. Everything was meant to look like they just decided to get married that morning, with flowers picked from the garden, simple ivy on the cake and a pallet with frames as a table planner.

Couple: Daphne Tambling and Andrew Hickey

Daphne and Andrew met outside a house that Daphne was moving into on Western Road. Andrew said “Hi” and they were friends ever since. For the romantic proposal, Andrew set up a treasure hunt, taking Daphne through all their memories. This included restaurants they had dined in, houses they’d live in, and parks where they’d had water fights. The last clue led Daphne to the house on Western Road where they first met. Andrew said, “This is where I first met you and first fell in love with you, and now where I am asking you to marry me” as he got down on one knee.

Daphne wore the Liara dress by Modeca and Andrew chose a beautiful dark blue suit from Louis Copeland and Sons.

The bridesmaids wore Orchid dresses, while the flower girl wore a beautiful net white dress. The groomsmen and dads all wore blue.

“We had a spiritual ceremony, which was very personal and just beautiful.”

“Our wedding venue, Garryvoe Hotel, is amazing. It was an absolute dream!”

For their entertainment, Daphne and Andrew chose a pianist for ceremony and arrival reception, Paul Fagan.

“Paul is extremely talented and excellent at his role. So accommodating to all requirements. We had J90 booked as a band but unfortunately due to covid restrictions we could not have them.”

Daphne’s favourite memory of the day is when she and Andrew were at the ceremony.

“Even though there were 100 faces there watching, it felt just like me and him on our own.”

“Plan tasks each month to get done and aim to have everything done except the small bits a month before the wedding. That way you can enjoy the lead up to the wedding as a couple, relaxed and excited about your day. Remember the day is about you,  have it your way and enjoy it all. Little things won’t go to plan but it doesn’t matter.”
