Ruth and Scott’s journey began the way many modern love stories do – by meeting online! They got engaged when Scott popped the question in a surprise proposal on Christmas Eve.

They hosted a beautiful wedding in Barberstown Castle on a sunny spring day, surrounded by cherry blossom trees.

Ruth says, “It was wonderful having all our family and friends in one place.”

For their wedding looks, Scott wore a black suit and teal tie, while Ruth wore a satin asymmetrical ivory dress and veil.

The bridesmaids wore long lilac dresses and the groomsmen wore black suits.

They hosted a really special wedding ceremony with their nearest and dearest.

Ruth says, “We did a ring blessing and our own vows. Our mothers each did a reading that they chose.”

Ruth and Scott loved their wedding venue, Barberstown Castle!

Here’s what they had to say: “The staff at Barberstown were really great to work with. We liked the location of Kildare because there was lots for guests to do near the venue. The venue itself has lots of beautiful locations for photos and it was great being able to do the ceremony, dinner and dancing in one place as it made the day very hassle free. The candles everywhere were very beautiful.”

The festivities were beautifully captured by Susan Jefferies Photography.

Ruth says, “Sue was wonderful in the lead up, day of the wedding and afterwards. She was incredibly organised and we received our photos very soon after the wedding. She was also so kind to work with on the day, making sure we got all the right shots. She knew the venue very well, which meant she knew where to shoot us.”

To entertain their guests, Ruth and Scott had the Bentley Boys. They loved how the band played a lot of songs that they loved and they had all the guests up on their feet all night!

Ruth shares her favourite memory from the Big Day:

“Walking down the aisle was wonderful. It was great to see all our friends and family there.”

We love asking newlyweds for their best wedding day advice. Here’s what Ruth and Scott had to say:

“Decide on the aspects of the wedding day that are important to you and plan those well and don’t worry too much about everything else.”
