“Our wedding was on Valentine’s Day so it was an easy theme to go with. We were thrilled to get a date a year after our engagement and when it fell on a Friday in the Brehon on Valentine’s Day we were delighted. We had lots of pinks and reds particularly in our flowers and cake.”

Clodagh first spotted Patrick on Tinder. Interestingly, her cousin knew Patrick and was in one of his pictures, so she swiped right out of curiosity.Clodagh shares their engagement story: “Pa took me to Mount Juliet in Kilkenny as a surprise trip the 16th of December. He told me it was an early Christmas present. He told me to pack a bag but didn’t tell me where we were going. It was so nice up there because it was Christmas so all the decorations and lights were fab. On the second night we went for dinner and drinks and after that outside the old Manor House he proposed in front of the Christmas tree. We went to the bar after that and turns out another couple had gotten engaged in the exact same place about 15 minutes before us.”
They tied the knot on Valentine’s Day so they really leaned into that as their theme!”Our wedding was on Valentine’s Day so it was an easy theme to go with. We were thrilled to get a date a year after our engagement and when it fell on a Friday in the Brehon on Valentine’s Day we were delighted. We had lots of pinks and reds particularly in our flowers and cake. The flowers were amazing and were done by Pa’s cousin Mary Coughlan in Stepstation flowers. The colours were amazing and she gave flowers to Tara Menzies from the brokenspoon who did our beautiful three tier cake on the day. We liked to have few quirky bits had a DIY crisp wall which was a great success on the day both at the drinks reception and for the crisp sandwiches at the residents bar and a beautiful welcome sign made by prettylittle creations who I found on Instagram.”
Clodagh wore an ivory Ronald Joyce dress from Amore Bridalwear in Youghal, Cork. It was an off the shoulder figure hugging dress with a slit in the leg, a button detail all the way down the back and the neckline and waistband were so flattering. Clodagh says it was so comfortable and she danced all night in it. She also loved her veil which was a tiered veil from Diamond Bridal, Cork and added class but quirkiness to the look.
Patrick wore a three piece suit which he got in Red Church, Cork. It was a gorgeous beige jacket, beige waistcoat and navy trousers. He went with burgundy shoes and an ivory tie to match Clodagh’s dress.
The bridesmaids wore forest green THTH dresses also from Diamond Bridal, Cork. They were fabulous, so flattering with a V neckline and a beautiful train. They wore drip Pearl earrings from Rosie and Dott and had a gorgeous forest green velvet handbag to match the dresses perfectly, also from Rosie and Dott.
The groomsmen wore three piece suits also from Red Church. Their jackets and trousers were navy and they wore beige waistcoats to tie in the Patrick’s. They wore green and dark blue ties to match the bridesmaids and they had lovely square cuff links also from Red Church as accessories.
“Our ceremony was beautiful. We had a church wedding and it was so special. We had the nicest priest, Fr. James McSweeney who I knew since secondary school as he was our school chaplain. He made it so special and it was very laid back which was great as we were both nervous. Our songs were varied. We had Arundó Trad on music with Tony Roberts on vocals and Mags McCarthy on the fiddle and they were incredible. My sister sang me up the aisle to ‘The One’ which was very special. Our cousins and close friends did our prayers of the faithful and my brother and Pa’s sister did our two readings. Fr. James was so lovely and everyone commented on how special he made the mass afterwards. The music was one of the highlights of the day, they gave everyone goosebumps it was so beautiful.”
The wedding celebration took place at The Brehon, a gorgeous venue in Killarney!”We chose the Brehon as our Venue and we were beyond thrilled with it. They went above and beyond to make our day special. I loved the hotel the minute I walked in to view it when we were looking at venues, the vibe and atmosphere there is second to none. I couldn’t recommend the wedding team there more. They were so helpful from beginning to end with regular check ins to keep us on track. The food was incredible on the day, everyone was raving about how good it was and the staff were brilliant. The rooms were also fabulous and the bridal suit had been newly refurbished. The hotel was amazing overall and I would recommend it to any bride or groom considering whether to go there or not.”
The wedding was beautifully captured by Laura and Benny Photography!
“From start to finish they were so professional but so fun. They put us at ease for the day and couldn’t have been more helpful throughout. They arranged a zoom meeting with us before the wedding to take us through the day and give us timings etc for how the day would look which was brilliant and something I hadn’t considered as they wanted to make sure we got to enjoy some of our drinks reception which I’m so glad we did. We got sent out first look at photographs the morning after the wedding and to say we were blown away is an understatement. They were amazing and beyond what we could have hoped for. We would highly recommend Laura and Benny to anyone getting married. You will not be disappointed.”
The stunning wedding video was created by Weddimony Films!”Our videographers were Weddimony films who came with Laura and Benny on the day which was very handy as they knew each other well and worked well together. The lads were so professional and so discrete on the day, you wouldn’t even know they were there. They got amazing content and we loved our teaser video! They put so much work into editing and making sure they got all the important parts of our day. They were great fun and worked really well with Laura and Benny. We would highly recommend them to brides and grooms.”
They didn’t do favours but had a crisp wall, sweet cart and a fun drinks reception for our guests. The band was Truly Diverse and Clodagh says they were amazing from start to finish. She had seen them at friends weddings before and knew they’d be good but they were blown away on the day.
“Our first dance was so special and they had a massive variety of songs to chose from. They also had sparklers which made the dance floor literally light up. It was class. They were great to get everyone involved and our DJ was Jack Enright, he was also brilliant. He started straight after the band as was all set up and ready to go when they stopped so there was no lull on the dance floor. He was great to get in contact with us before the wedding to pick some songs we wanted him to include.”
Clodagh shares her favourite memory from the Big Day:
=”My favourite memory from the day is just looking around at everyone up on the dance floor having the best time. Our band were incredible and had the floor full from start to finish. The atmosphere was electric everyone was just having a ball. I also loved the trip in the car with just the two of us down to Killarney after the pictures. It was our first proper bit of time on our own to just chat and take in the excitement of the day together. It was lovely to spend that hour on our own and still have the rest of the day to look forward to.”
We love asking newlyweds for their best wedding advice for other couples. Here’s what Clodagh said:
“Enjoy every minute of it. The day goes so fast, make sure you try and walk around to take a breath and just take it all in. Enjoy your drinks reception and try to make it there for as much as you can as it’s the first proper chance to chat to people on the day. Also if you’re toying with the idea of having an earlier or later ceremony go with the earlier one, the day goes so fast the earlier you start the better as you can make the most of the day then. Don’t stress the small stuff, everything falls into place on the day, just sit back and enjoy after all the hard work you put in.”
