Frances and Jonathan met while working in Superquinn in 2000.

“I came home from GAA training to our girls not yet in bed. Complete unimpressed I went to have my shower. My oldest girl was jumping about all excited wanting to show me a picture she drew while I was out. Eventually I went into their room to each girl on either side of their Daddy. My oldest girl handed me her picture which was a picture of the 4 of us and our dog. It had written on it “Mammy, will you marry Daddy?” He was on one knee and handed me a Haribo jelly ring. I thought he was playing along with their joke, laughed and went to walk away back to have my shower. He said “Mammy you didn’t answer?” I said of course, now get to bed and left! The next day at work I text and said “laughing here at the girls last night.” He replied and said “It wasn’t a joke. We can go ring shopping whenever you want.” The country went into lockdown 2 weeks later!

“As we married in level 5 we didn’t have a theme as such. Just a nice relaxed, easy day.”

Since they got married in level 5, they were only allowed 6 guests. So the wedding party was them and their 2 girls as flower girls. Frances wore ivory, the girls wore blush pink and Jonathan wore a really pale blue colour.

“We were married in the registry office in Dublin so it was quick but lovely. We had Ruelle “I get to love you” playing as our girls led me into the room and my Dad gave me away.”

“The venue was STUNNING! I had only found Orlagh House by chance on the service finder 3 weeks before the wedding. I went to view it and fell in love on the drive up to the house. The views were amazing, the garden is stunning, the house is stunning. And Róisín, the bookings manager was so so lovely. She took her time and showed me around the whole house. From dining room to bedrooms, to bar to living room. It was stunning.”

Simon Peare was great to deal with. We made the booking back in March after a second reschedule of our date and thankfully he was available. We had a call a few days before the wedding to run through the day and talk about what we wanted from our photos. He was so calm and relaxed and really took his time to get the best photographs.”

Our favourite memory of our day is that our children were part of it. They each had their very important jobs to do. Éabha, our oldest, read a little reading at the ceremony. And Abbie, or youngest, held a beautiful plaque that read “Daddy, it’s time to give Mammy our last name” that I got from LKCraftsbyk on Instagram. And she also brought up the wedding rings.”

“Just enjoy the day. Don’t stress. And smaller is better. Even with the small number at our wedding, I don’t think I got to speak with everyone. Just relax, enjoy it and take in all that you can.”
