“Our wedding was Fairytale, Classy, Elegant, with whites, lots of decor, lots of white roses, greenery and candles.”

Couple: Lisa & Steve Butler
Engagement length: 4 years
Wedding date: 2021-11-19
Wedding location: Abbey Hotel Roscommon
Photographer: Clare Frances Photography

Lisa and Steve met through work. They got engaged in Lanzarote in their favourite restaurant by the sea. It was totally unexpected and romantic!

“Our wedding was Fairytale, Classy, Elegant, with whites, lots of decor, lots of white roses, greenery and candles.”

Lisa wore a signature ivory dress by Justin Alexander. It was fit and flare with an overskirt and a deep V back. Steve wore a Remus tuxedo in grey and black.

The groomsmen wore Remus black tuxedos and the bridesmaids wore grey full length multiway dress from Debenhams.

“We had our ceremony in the hotel. It was beautiful! A white aisle carpet, chiavari chairs with bunches of greenery on the outside, chairs and fairy light backdrop behind the alter table, white lanterns and cherry blossom trees up the aisle. The ceremony was celebrated by Spiritual Ceremonies Ireland. The ceremony was the most important thing to us and we chose our readings that told our story. We had a poem from the Notebook read out and music was done by Jonathon Kilduff on piano and Cherise O Moore music. It was just beautiful.”

“The Abbey Hotel is a Castle Manor Style hotel, set in the heart of Roscommon Town. It’s family run by the Grealys and I work there as their wedding co ordinator. It’s the style we wanted and the food quality was outstanding. We wanted to focus on these important elements and it was delivered with precision on the day. The hotel is very Downton Abbey style with a massive touch of elegance and charm, full or character. Homely and maintained to a very high standard.”

For entertainment, they had arrivals music by Colin Fahy in the bar for guests to enjoy while having food and drinks. They organised a sweet cart with individuals cones, pick n mix and also donated to Dog’s Trust Ireland as part of their favours. As an extra treat, any guest who stayed at the hotel that night had a little munchies pack with crisps, chocolates and soft drinks.

“There were so many great moments, but a favourite was certainly the excitement of waiting to go up the aisle. Having stood in that room so many times over the years bringing couples in, it was my turn to be the one to walk the aisle in my place of work which I truly love. When I left my bedroom to go to the ceremony room the hotel owners and the staff from all departments did a guard of honour whilst I took my steps towards becoming Mrs Butler. Also it was very special we had Steve’s mum over from the UK, travelling during the pandemic was always a concern.”

“Enjoy every minute. When you choose the right hotel, the right suppliers then let them look after you. Relax and don’t overthink your decisions. Look to these professionals for advice and remember to enjoy your day, it is a fact that it goes so quickly but it will be worth everything.”
