A Beautiful Blush Pink, Rose Gold and Ivory Wedding

Real Weddings

“Our wedding theme/colours… Blush pink, rose gold and ivory. It was a summer wedding, and we wanted everything fresh and clean looking.”

Names: Caoimhe Rooney and Ciarán Hennessy

Length of engagement: 2 years 3 months

Wedding Date: 04/08/2018

Wedding location: Castle Leslie

Photographer: SOSAC – Shane O’Sullivan

Planner: MBZ Weddings

We met… In or around 2011. We were both working in an IT company called Cúram Software in Park West. He emailed me to wish me a happy birthday and the rest is history!

Our proposal… Saturday morning, May 7th 2016, Ciarán had the kitchen decorated in flowers, the dogs had bow tie ribbons around their necks and all my favourite foods! When he called me down for breakfast, he was on one knee when I opened the door.

Our wedding theme/colours… Blush pink, rose gold and ivory. It was a summer wedding, and we wanted everything fresh and clean looking. We wanted something a little bit different but elegant at the same time. We didn’t want anything that would look too heavy, and we knew the backdrop of the venue would provide beautiful scenery.

Things we DIY’d/made ourselves… Absolutely nothing. Our wedding planner, Zoë Kelly at MBZ International, managed to source everything without us needing to lift a finger. Our invitations, from Appleberry Press, were viewfinders with pictures of us, our dogs and the venue, so that was a really personal touch from the get go.

My dress… Blush princess gown made bespoke by De Stafford Bridal. De Stafford Bridal was the first shop I visited in March (4 months before the big day) and I couldn’t imagine being happier with my choice. Shoes by Jimmy Choo

My hair and make up… Hair was by the very talented Lisa Russell. Make up by the beautiful Jessica Whelan. Nails by Sarah Gaynor Nails. Lashes and brows by Claudine King Brows and Beauty.

His suit… Louis Copeland – navy tuxedo.

What our bridal party wore… White Jenny Packham hi-lo dresses. We went to Amarra Bridal in Newbridge with less than 6 weeks to go to the big day. Somehow it all came together! Shoes by Badgley Mischka

Our ceremony… Outside on the grounds of Castle Leslie – thankfully the weather held out. The celebrant was a family friend of Caoimhe’s (Abraham Lee). We wanted something personal and different and he certainly provided that.

We chose our photographer because… We loved SOSAC’s work online. They somehow managed to make everything look unrehearsed and natural. Very happy with the final product.

We chose our videographer because… If Carlsberg did videographers, it’d be Story of Eve. They captured the most beautiful moments of our day.

We chose our wedding coordinator because… MBZ had been recommended by a friend, and Zoë wasn’t scared off by Bridezilla email I first sent her. The first time we met with Zoë, we knew instantly we had made the right choice. She took every ounce of pressure from us, all we did was show up!

We chose our venue because… It provided everything: Perfect for a two day wedding, accommodation on site, exclusive use, great staff, spectacular scenery and a great reputation that it lived up to.

Our menu… Was interesting…we had a choice of two menus. People could mix and match between two separate menus (one classic menu with beef and fish, one diner menu with chicken wings and burgers). Caoimhe had chicken wings for starters and burger for mains. Ciarán had crab cake for starters and beef for mains. Our dessert was a huge dessert table provided by Cloudberry Bakery – it had everything from Guinness Cheesecake to apple crumble.

Our honeymoon… Hasn’t happened yet. We took a couple of weeks to travel around Ireland, but we are planning the big adventure now.

My favourite part of the wedding day… Being with family and friends all day, the sun shining and no dramas.

My piece of advice for other couples… “Try to enjoy every minute of the lead up. You will miss it when it’s over.” – Caoimhe. “Get a wedding planner.” – Ciarán

What is it that makes your wedding unique?

  • My dress wasn’t white – it was blush. The bridesmaids were in white!
  • Our two-sided menu, don’t think many people had seen that before.
  • The viewfinder invitations, we loved them.
  • We had singing waiters, fireworks
  • The Dublin Legends even made an appearance on Day 2.
  • Our family friend who oversaw the ceremony.
  • Our escort table was champagne glasses with everyone’s names and table numbers on them.
  • Our table numbers were our baby pictures.
