Jenny Packham is the bridal designer of the moment right now, and if her Spring 2014 collection is anything to go by, her wedding gowns are going to be the quintessential wedding gown for years to come (time to move over, Vera Wang?) Jenny Packham’s name is synonymous with luxurious, intricate, delicate and sensual gowns, where grace and romance is unveiled through light, hand beaded embellishments, soft, sumptuous fabrics and clean, chic silhouettes.
La Belle Epoque, or ‘the beautiful era’ is the inspiration for the 2014 Jenny Packham bridal collection, which achieves an Edwardian feel through beautiful beading, soft lines and elegant draping. The smart structure and conservative charm of each glorious gown is given a modern edge with voluminous ballerina skirts, deep v-necks and exposed backs.

Packham rarely goes for a full ballerina skirt (sheath and a-line being her signature shape), but the silhouette on Audrey (an apt name, we must say) is balanced to perfection with her characteristic hand beading on the waistline. This particular dress reminds us of Stephanie Allin’s ever popular Sophia dress, and we love this little deviation from the Packham norm.
Carine is a stunning, modern gown that perfectly represents today’s chic and minimalist bride. We love the subtle peplum detail and simple rhinestone belt.
Dresses from the 2014 Jenny Packham bridal collection are available in ivory, champagne and magnolia.
Belle Magnolia could just be our favourite from this collection (this will possibly change several times before we hit the ‘publish’ button, of course). The a-line silhouette, sheer off-the-shoulder sleeve and romantic, dusty shade is understated and elegant, and perfect for those effortlessly chic brides who favour simplicity over showy.
“A statement of romantically soft, feminine design, the collection encapsulates the spirit of Edwardian style and the Art Nouveau movement which defined it. The Belle Epoque or ‘beautiful era’ transformed fashion, abandoning restrictive corsetry and creating the flowing silhouette ever since associated with the Age of Elegance.”
