A Charming Darver Castle Wedding by Andrew Mackin Photography

Real Weddings

“Darver Castle was local and charming with a great reputation.”

The couple: Jane Woods & Liam O’Hare
Length of engagement: 19 months | Wedding date: 6th July 2017
Wedding venue: Darver Castle, Co. Louth
Photographer:  Andrew Mackin Photography

Our story… we met in a nightclub in Dundalk Co. Louth called Ridley’s. It was NOT love at first sight! It took Liam weeks to torture me into going on a date with him! The proposal was very low key. Liam proposed on a Sunday evening at home by the fire.

The groom and groomsmen… wore navy blue suits with white shirts, navy waistcoats and brown shoes. The groom wore an ivory tie.

My look… my dress was ivory lace with a champagne under body. It was strapless with a lace train and cover buttons at the back. My hair was curled and half up half down with a fresh floral crown to the back. My make-up was natural with a subtle smoky eye and nude lip.

Our ceremony… we had a church ceremony with a children’s choir.

Our favourite part of the day was… the car journey after the church ceremony to get some photographs in a local church ruin. It was lovely to get a bit of time together on our own before the wedding breakfast.

We chose our venue because… Darver Castle was local and charming with a great reputation.

We chose our photographer because… Andrew’s (Andrew Mackin Photography) work is amazing. He has a keen eye for detail and his relaxed approach made us very comfortable in front of the camera. We wanted our photos to be natural so this was important.

Our honeymoon… A visit to Orlando, then onto Miami and then we went on a Caribbean cruise.

Our menu… was Chicken Caesar Salad, Vegetable Soup, Beef, Cod or Stuffed Chicken and a Trio of Desserts.

My piece of advice for other couples… is not to sweat the small things. Everything turns out perfectly on the day regardless.
