We met… On a night out in Limerick in 2008, we realised months later that his aunt was one of my Mom’s best friends who I have known all my life – it’s a very small world!

Our proposal… Evan proposed on the Christmas week of 2014. I got home from work at about 10:30pm, I walked in the door and there was music playing and candles lit – it was all very romantic. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out what was happening, I was in shock. It was great to do it at that time of year as we got to see all of our friends and family over the Christmas to celebrate.

My hair and makeup… My makeup was by Celine Courtney and my hair by Vow 2 Wow. Leanne at Vow 2 Wow has a fantastic talent and is so flexible; last minute additions and changes of style didn’t phase her one bit! I changed from having my hair down to an upstyle the week of the wedding – we didn’t have time for a second trial but Leanne created a beautiful style exactly how I wanted on the day! Everyone who Leanne did from age 4 to 70 was delighted with their hair.

My dress… I had purchased a different dress in a sample sale but I realised about four months before the wedding that it wasn’t going to work out. I called The White Room in Mullingar in an absolute panic and they were fantastic – they gave me an appointment the very next day, the dress I ended up buying was Paloma Blanca 4603. I had initially seen it online when I first got engaged and loved it but had never tried on. The moment I tried it on I knew. I ordered it on a rush order then and there and it arrived six weeks later. I just loved it, it was perfect for me. I guess everything happens for a reason!

His suit… was by Hugo Boss.

Our ceremony… Evan’s family are Baha’i and mine are Catholic. We chose to have a Baha’i Ceremony in the hotel as it allowed us to incorporate both of our families’ religious beliefs. We spent more time planning the ceremony than any other part of the wedding, it was very personal and filled with our favourite music, poems and readings.

We chose our venue because… We chose Faithlegg House Hotel because it ticked every box and more! The room for the ceremony was the most important thing for us and the Minaun Room was just perfect. It’s almost like a conservatory, it is filled with natural light and views of the trees and gardens outside which was exactly what we were looking for! The packages at Faithlegg are fantastic – they think of everything and it was wonderful to have the option of having the drinks reception outside on the lawn. Also, as we are both from Limerick it was great for our families and friends to have the option of the Self Catering Cottages on site and make a mini holiday out of it which many did!

We chose our photographer because… We absolutely loved his photos, from the moment we looked at his website we knew Daniel (DKPHOTO) was the right photographer for us. His photos always seem to tell a story and he did not disappoint – he was a pleasure to work with so friendly and easy going with a fantastic eye, so many guests commented about how unobtrusive he was – most people didn’t even know he was there.

Our honeymoon… We spent four nights in Las Vegas followed by 10 Nights at the Hyatt Zilara in Cancun which we booked with Tropical Sky.

My favourite part of the wedding day… Evan’s Dad and his band (made up of a random collection of talented family and friends) singing and doing the full dance routine to ‘Stand By Your Man’ from the Blues Brothers complete with sunglasses and sparkly hats – a fantastic surprise. Also, after dinner we took some time to ourselves and went up to our room, it was great to just take a few minutes alone together to take it all in before the dancing started.

My piece of advice for other brides… Enjoy the run up to the wedding and don’t worry about things going wrong or last minute changes, sometimes these things work out for the best. No matter what happens it’s going to be one of the best days of your life. Enjoy every minute of the day because it’s all over in a heartbeat.
