Ireland’s Top Wedding Bands [Part Six]: Flog The Dog

Planning & Advice

Flog The Dog are a Wedding Band based in Kerry and provide Wedding Music & Entertainment throughout Munster and Nationwide. So, what’s in the name? Believe it or not, nothing at all to do with a dog!  “Flog The Dog is an old seafaring term used to reference the heavy workload undertaken by the junior members of the ship in early 1900’s. Flog The Dog are runners up of the ‘Brides of Kerry Awards 2018‘ and finalists of the Weddings Online Awards as ‘Wedding Band of the Year’ 2018.

A live band creates that lasting memory for weeks and months to come. Flog The Dog always receive highly positive reviews from couples and the most common phrase is, “everyone is still talking about your band, you were that good.” It’s always a reassuring element for a couple that made the best decision for their Wedding Entertainment.
Flog The Dog provide a professional PA and lighting system that is fully set up in under 30 minutes. We understand that from the moment the speeches/desserts are finished, people want to get on the dance floor. We don’t delay and our speedy setup makes that eagerness to get the party started a reality.
We also offer couples the opportunity for themselves or their guests to sing or play a song with the band. This is always a great moment to capture for both sides of the family; a memory to last.
Our favourite song?…that’s a difficult one. I suppose it would have to be any song that we can have a bit of fun with the guests. Proud Mary is where we can encourage people to let themselves go. If there are any Mary’s in the audience we get them up for a dance off. Those moments create great banter and something to chat about at breakfast the next morning; that’s if they make it there!
Sentimentally speaking, Castle On The Hill by Ed Sheeran always gets a great reaction from the crowd and it’s a sing-along anthem at the moment. Tell Me Ma, The Hills of Donegal, Mr. Brightside…there’s jusy so many great songs that we lovely playing. We enjoy putting our own little spin on songs and actively get the crowd involved as much as possible.
