Meet Gareth and Tømasz! These two fabulous grooms planned a wedding that was distinctly them. From the G&T theme to the table numbers named after drag queens, the Eurovision themed ceremony and everything in between. If you’re a fan of colour and extravagant love stories, then you will adore this wedding feature.
Couple: Gareth and Tømasz
Engagement length: 2.5 years
Wedding date: 2024-05-31
Wedding location: Cabra Castle Hotel
Photographer: Darren Byrne Photography
These two fabulous gents met while Tømasz was working in The Spencer Hotel as a receptionist and Gareth was there as a hotel guest.
Gareth says, “I took a shine to him and tracked him down on the Grindr dating app. We chatted for a while and the next day when I was checking out I slipped him my number.”
They got engaged on Christmas Eve at Gareth’s sister’s dining room table, with all their family watching.
“Tømasz had no idea that I was going to propose. He knew I had got my aunt Della in the kk draw. He was so scared when he found out I had his name as he knew I had bought her a candy string. Lo and behold when I pulled the ring box out he was in shock. It took a prompt from everyone around the table to know what the answer was. Thankfully it was a yes.”
The wedding theme was G&T, along with some drag! The bridesmaids’ dresses were pastel mint, and the flowers were light pink, cream, blue and eucalyptus.
We just love the table plan designed on Hendricks Gin bottles and the table numbers named after all the drag queens from Ru Paul’s Drag Race!
Both gents wore classic tuxedos – black trousers and waist coat, crisp white shirts, royal blue tux jackets, with Valentino shoes and Chanel Blue perfume.
Tømasz’s watch was Daniel Wellington and Gareth’s was Rado Switzerland.
The bridesmaids wore pastel mint with jewellery from New Bridge Silverware and the groomsmen wore a 2 piece tux with white shirts and a mint tie to match the bridesmaids.
“Our ceremony had a Eurovision song theme. Songs included ‘In Your Eyes’, ‘Why Me’, ‘Love Shine a Light’, ‘Circle of Life’ from The Lion King, ‘Hey Ya’, and ‘It Is You I Have Loved’.
We held a hand fasting ceremony with the 6 colours of the pride flag.
Our readings included a Disney poem, ‘What I Learned About Love’, ‘I Learned From My Dog’, and a statement from the Marriage Equality Referendum.”
The venue was Cabra Castle.
It was been a childhood dream of Gareth’s to get married at Cabra Castle. In fact, on a date with Tømasz, he took him to Cabra Castle and told him that this is where he wanted to get married.
“Cabra was the most wonderful venue. The wedding management team and staff made sure we wanted for nothing on the big day.
The ceremony was in the newly built Granary. The most stunning room, for any wedding ceremony, beautifully decorated with stunning light flowing into the room.
The food was out of this world. We chose Caesar Salad, Vol a Vents, Vegetable Soup, Lemon Sorbet, Chicken, Fillet Steak, Salmon, Chocolate Torte and Mixed Berry Meringue.”
“Our photographer was Darren Byrne. We chose Darren for his natural style and presentation. He made us feel so so comfortable on the day. Our photographs are absolutely stunning, we absolutely love them. Darren was so much fun, yet so professional.”
To entertain their guests, they had the band, The Seducers. Their frontman, Davy O Neill kept the dance floor full all night long!
They also had a photobooth from Carolyn’s Sweets, which the guests absolutely loved, as well as the large light up G&T letters.
Gareth and Tømasz share their favourite memories from the Big Day:
“1 – The ceremony was one of our favourite parts, especially tying the knot in the hand fasting ceremony along with our first kiss.
2 – Gareth arranged for our two fur babies to come to the wedding as a surprise for Tømasz. He got the shock of his life when they turned the corner in their little tux.
3 – The grand entrance into the banqueting suite to celebrate with our family and friends. Was amazing knowing that everyone was there to celebrate us and our love.”
We love asking newlyweds for their best advice for other couples:
“Our biggest piece of advice is to take it all in. The day goes by so so fast – in the blink of an eye it was over. Remember to take time out for both of you. We got to go and sit for 20 mins for a drink before we entered the dinner room. We could chat and process everything.”
