“To have the people that you love the most share your special day is just magical.”
The couple: Sophie Pearce & Paul Curley
Length of engagement: 2 years | Wedding date: 24th July 2013
Wedding location: Village at Lyons

We met… through a mutual friend. We were friends for a number of months before we had our first kiss. Six months later we had a deposit down on a house.
Our proposal… Paul booked a weekend away for an early birthday present at the Ritz Carlton and proposed after a lovely dinner in the restaurant.
My dress… was the first dress I tried on, I thought I wanted the traditional strapless dress but I was open minded going into the dress shop and fell in love with the first one.
His suit… Paul’s suit was by Tiger, we were very grateful to Marina in the Brown Thomas men’s department.
What our bridal party wore… My bridesmaid dresses were from Coast. I picked them out without any of the bridesmaids trying them on which could have gone terribly wrong but they all looked amazing. The men’s suits were from Aston menswear. Paul picked the groomsmen suits – we wanted the colours to complement each other rather than have everything matching.
Our ceremony… was small with our closest friends and family. My family came over from England to celebrate our special day with us. We wanted a very intimate ceremony.
We chose our photographer because… I loved Michelle’s style of photography. Her photographs are very natural and capture the moment perfectly. www.michelleprunty.com
We chose our venue because… we chose the Village at Lyons because we both wanted somewhere that had charm but that wasn’t a standard wedding venue. We wanted an intimate wedding and reception but we also wanted somewhere that our guests would be comfortable.
Our menu was… a lovely three course meal. We had a refreshing summer punch and miniature scones for the reception. The starter was grilled asparagus / truffle mayonnaise / crispy poached egg. Main was steak fillet with fondant potato / vegetables and red wine jus. For dessert we had six miniature desserts including rhubarb crumble, chocolate brownie, lemon tart.
Our honeymoon destination… was a complete surprise as Paul organised and booked it all. Paul gave me a script during his speech telling me where we were going. We had an absolutely amazing time in Bali & Hong Kong.
My favourite part of the wedding day… was walking up the aisle and seeing Paul. My dad’s speech was also a very memorable part of the day. To have the people that you love the most share your special day is just magical.
My piece of advice for other brides is… to ensure you have the day that you and your fiancé want. Relax the day before and organise your bridal party the morning of the wedding.
