A Romantic Wedding at Errigal Country House Hotel by Andrew Mackin

Real Weddings

“My favourite part of the wedding day was getting to the top of the aisle and getting to wrap my arms around James.”

Bride and groom: Ciara McCann and James O’Hara

Length of engagement: 3 years | Wedding Date: 26th April 2018

Wedding location: Errigal Country House Hotel, Co. Cavan

Photographer: Andrew Mackin Photography

We met… 6 years ago on Holy Thursday. I was helping out by getting my feet washed and noticed James sitting in the crowd. James also noticed me as later that night I had a Facebook friend request from him, we got chatting and a few weeks later had our first date, making the rest history.

Our proposal… was very simple and low key. James asked me to marry him on Christmas Day at home. He had wrapped my ring up in serval larger boxes, placing it under the Christmas tree for a week! As I was opening the present the boxes got smaller until I found the small black box at which point James got on bended knee and asked me to marry him.

Our wedding colours... were mocha and cream, with pastel coloured flowers. I didn’t have a theme other than to keep things as simple as possible.

My dress… was Mikaella Bridal, which I bought in Perfect Day.

My hair and makeup… was done by family and friends. Hair – Shauna Duffy and Makeup – Geraldine Boylan. As my mummy is a hairdresser she did my hair the morning of the wedding.

His suit… Louis Boyd.

What our bridal party wore… was Hilary Morgan and the flower girls wore LanTing.

Our ceremony… was held in St. John’s Church, the place we first met. We had Gold Ring Ceili Band playing throughout.

We chose our photographer, Andrew Mackin because… we had already experienced Andrew doing another family wedding and we enjoyed the rapport he developed with all the guests. Andrew got to know the guests on a personal level, calling everyone by name and ensuring the bride and groom got time together. Andrew arrived at my house the morning of the wedding at 9.30am, he slipped into the background taking casual pictures of my bridal party getting ready at times we forgot he was even in the house. The manner in which Andrew works is very professional. Having just received our wedding pictures we couldn’t be happier.

We chose our venue because… of its simplicity and attention to detail. The staff at the Errigal Country House Hotel couldn’t have been more helpful over the years we planned our wedding with them.

Our menu… consisted of Chicken and Mushroom Vol-au-vent, Cream of Vegetable Soup for Starters, a choice of Turkey and Ham or Roast Beef for Main, and Dessert was Pavlova or Apple Tart and Custard.

Our honeymoon… was three days in Rome, staying at the River Palace Hotel followed by a week cruise of the Mediterranean with NCL Epic.

My favourite part of the wedding day… was getting to the top of the aisle and getting to wrap my arms around James.

My piece of advice for other brides… enjoy every second of your day, it goes by so fast. Remember to please yourself.
