Sunny Days in Spain – Viv & Rob’s Real Wedding in Estepona

Real Weddings

The gorgeous Vivienne and fiancé Robert packed their bags and headed over to sunny Spain to make their wedding day one to truly remember. There, with over 80 friends and family memebers, they exchanged vows in a pretty and emotional outdoor ceremony in the TikiTano, Estepona. Vivienne’s tea length gown from Memories Bridal Boutique in Cork, and her vintage style white lace gloves set the tone for a classicly cool day.

wedding make up

We met… We met in a club over five years ago but knew each other to say hello before that.

First impressions… We both fancied each other for a while. We had a lot in common and made each other laugh from the word go. The rest is history!

Our proposal… Rob popped the question in the amazing Delano Hotel in Miami last June. It was our last night and he was so nervous. We kept it to ourselves for 24 hours and went for dinner on South Beach. We came home on a total high and I couldn’t wait to go ring shopping. I was really lucky and found my ring a few days later. Everyone was so happy for us, it was a really special time.

Our wedding theme… We wanted somewhere unspoilt and with a Spanish feel to it. Estepona is very relaxed and beautiful and it was perfect for family and friends to spend quality time together. I work in event management so I didn’t find it stressful at all to organise, in fact I really enjoyed it! Our wedding planner Scarlett from the TikiTano was a dream to work with and took everything in her stride. I really trusted her.

The dresses… My dress was from Memories Bridal Boutique in Cork. It was a vintage inspired piece from an American designer. It was very 1950s looking, and so easy to wear in the sun. Belinda Sullivan (winner of Cork Fashion Week Designer of the Year 2011) made the bridesmaid dresses which turned out fantasticly. Belinda has her own studio called Sew Unique in Glenville, Co. Cork.

Our ceremony… The ceremony was exactly what I dreamed of. We hired a guitarist and singer called Jamie Chappie who sang ‘Here comes the Sun’ as I walked up the aisle in the sunshine with my very proud dad. It was so special.

My favourite part of the day… My dad walking me up the aisle, the beautiful speeches and dancing with my nieces and nephews.

Our first dance… It was such a hard job and took months trying to decide! We both love Christy Hennessy so we had a piece of ‘If you were to fall’ and ‘She’s a lovely girl’. Then we got Ian our DJ to play Calvin Harris ‘Feel so Close‘ and from that moment on the party started!

Our entertainment… I had heard so much about singer and DJ Ian Preston on wedding blogs so we were delighted when he was available. He literally had everyone on their feet from the word go. We both have lots of nieces and nephews and they stole the show with their dancing. Ian had props such as tambourines, bangos and guitars. Everyone had a blast and the party went on until the early hours.

Our photographer… Miki Barlok is a good friend of mine and even though he doesn’t usually photograph weddings he did this us a favour and did an incredible job.

My advice to other brides… Do exactly what you and your fiancé want to do and don’t follow the rules. I think the most important things are good food and entertainment. That’s what people talk about afterwards.

Our honeymoon… We are hoping to go to Santorini for our honeymoon, it looks so beautiful and romantic there.
