We met… Eleven years ago in school – we were childhood sweethearts. Colm was a year ahead of me and we met through mutual friends who are still a big part of our lives today. We have been lucky to grow up together and share so many memories as best friends.

The proposal… happened in Australia at the end of a year of travelling. Colm organised a BBQ on the beach with friends before surprising me with a beautiful ring which he designed himself, after the initial shock and a few tears I delightfully said yes.

My dress… was a Claire Pettibone gown from Myrtle Ivory. The moment I put it on I fell in love, I wanted something simple, delicate with no layers or boning and a dress which expressed my style. I felt so comfortable and at ease all day long. My shoes were Marks & Spencers and I lasted all day and night in them.

My hair and make-up… The Hair Emporium in Kilcullen styled all the hair. They are super talented stylists specialising in bridal hair. I wanted natural hair, nothing overstyled or fussy and with the girls we achieved this. Kate McCormack did our make-up and had us all looking radiant and flawless. Another super talent, a perfectionist and our make-up did not budge.

The men’s suits… Colm wore a Remus Uomo dark navy slimfit suit and the boys wore dark navy suits with matching ties from Richie Whelans in Naas.

Our ceremony… was held in St. Brigid’s Church Suncroft. I was baptised, made my communion and was confirmed there so it only seemed fitting the wedding would take place in the same church. It was celebrated by Fr. John Stapelton who also married my parents many years ago. He gave a heartfelt ceremony which guests are still praising.

The bridesmaids’ dresses… I always wanted a sky blue colour for the girls. I came across the perfect style and colour on ASOS.

Our wedding photographer… We chose Mark Donovan as our wedding photographer because of his creative, natural portfolio. While searching for a photographer the quality of Mark’s photos stood out to us. When we met Mark he was professional and chilled just what we were looking for. Mark was a pleasure to be around and both families and friends could not speak highly enough of him.

We chose our wedding venue because… We chose The Heritage in Killenard because we got the “wow” factor from it while viewing venues – it was the only one for us. The wedding coordinator David could not do enough for us. Our guests were all complimenting the staff on the professional, friendly manner in which they conducted themselves. The Heritage made our day so special by looking after everything from the moment we arrived till the moment we left.

Our wedding style… We wanted a vintage/boho theme with a relaxed atmosphere. Our stunning flowers in the church were done by a friend Anne Mac Dermott who handpicked them from her own garden. Our bouquets were done by Dee from Forget Me Not Flowers which were exquisite, they featured a locket of my late Grandma and Aunt and were wrapped with lace from my Mam’s wedding dress. My talented family provided homemade cakes for the drinks reception which went down a treat and my aunt Gabrielle baked our beautiful wedding cake.

My fave part of the wedding… was seeing Colm for the first time and after the meal dancing and making memories with all our family and friends. It was truly the best day.

My advice to other brides… is to be organised so you can relax on the day and take in every minute. Don’t try to please other people do it your way and you will have no regrets. Take a few minutes to yourselves before the meal to enjoy each other’s company, it’s little moments like this you will remember.
