A Fab, Vintage-Inspired Tulfarris Wedding by Doug Murray Wedding Films

“One of my favourite parts was seeing Darren turn round at the end of the altar and knowing this was the start of an amazing marriage.”

The couple: Noelle Donohue & Darren O’ Connor
Length of engagement: Nearly 2 years | Wedding date: 1st September 2016
Wedding venue: Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort, Wicklow
Videographer: Doug Murray Wedding Films

We met… through mutual friends.

Our proposal… We had travelled to Vegas on holiday with some of our family, when we arrived we got a limo to see the Vegas sign. Darren got down on one knee in front of everyone and even organised a photographer to capture it all.

My dress… I saw my dress online in a shop called Divinity Bridal in Lisburn and knew it was exactly what I wanted. As soon as I put the dress on, I knew it was the perfect dress for me.

My hair and makeup… My makeup was done by the amazing Ailbhe Lynch whose magic hands made me look flawless. My hair was done by a friend, we trained together as hairdressers and was the only person I would trust with my hair – as always she did amazing work.

His suit… Darren bought his suit from Bertoni Neon in Stephen’s Green. He wanted a well fitted sleek look and they couldn’t have helped him more ( he was nearly worse then me picking the dress).

What our bridal party wore… My chief bridesmaid wore a very pale blush pink dress from Debenhams and our two groomsmen wore a lighter grey suit than Darren’s from Love Suits.

Our ceremony… We had a civil ceremony on the grounds of our hotel with Pastor Gerry Byrne. It was very personal and we could pick poems to suit our relationship.

Our wedding theme and colour… I went for a more vintage style so wanted soft blush colours.

We choose our venue because… I had done a wedding in Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort years previous before ever being engaged and it always stuck in my head. When we started to look, we had a list of places but when we visited Tulfarris, the venue was so beautiful, the grounds had amazing views and it was so peaceful and tranquil. The staff were so down to earth and helpful, we just fell in love and decided neither of us wanted to look anywhere else.

We choose our videographer because… We met Doug (Doug Murray Wedding Films) and from the moment we met, it was like we knew him forever. He explained how the day would go and on the day he made everyone feel so comfortable, you wouldn’t even know the camera was there.

My favourite part of the wedding day was… Firstly was seeing Darren turn round at the end of the altar and knowing this was the start of an amazing marriage. And then just having all our family and friends around to help us celebrate.

My piece of advice for other couples… Enjoy every minute from the engagement to the day, it goes so fast. It should be fun so try not to get too stressed. It’s the best day of your life so remember it’s about you two and your marriage, you can only do your best so don’t try and please everyone.
