Picking colours just because they’re trendy

This is one of the easiest wedding colour mistakes to avoid. Couples can often fall into the trap of choosing colours just because they’re ‘in’. Our advice is to always opt for colours that you love! If you’re not sure? Take a peek at your wardrobe and take note of colours that you see popping up a lot.

Not choosing colours you find in nature

Sure, neon colours can work beautifully! If you’re stuck, rather opt for something you can see in nature. That’ll make it easy to extend your wedding colours into your flower arrangements.

Not remembering classic white

We promise classic white is not boring! Think classic white linens, white roses, baby’s breath and elegant white candles.

Forgetting your wedding venue’s colours

This one’s easy to forget but also easy to avoid if it’s on your mind. Consider the unmovable items at your wedding venue, such as the carpets and curtains. Then choose colours that complement those items. For example, bright red curtains would clash with your bright pink flowers.

Waiting too long to choose

A fab way of introducing your wedding colours to everybody is with your invitations. These will be a taster of your wedding style, so start thinking about this early on.

Not considering your bridesmaids’ dresses

This is one of the easiest wedding mistakes to forget. Couples often think that a pink colour scheme should mean pink dresses and pink flowers. We recommend selecting a colour palette with a mix of lovely colours that go well together. This way, your bridesmaids’ bouquets can ‘pop’ instead of blend into their dress colour.

Using too much of one colour

Speaking of which… having a blue wedding doesn’t mean you should only have blue. You could have different shades or even add in other colours which complement blue beautifully.
