“Ballymagarvey was the first place we saw and for us nothing else compared to it. It was so different; the grounds are beautiful we got some lovely photos.”

We met… At a party 14 years ago

Our proposal… We got engaged in Edinburgh on the 28th Nov 2015 (10 years to the day of being together) on top of a Ferris wheel at the Christmas market.

Our wedding theme/colours… The bridesmaids were in a blush pink, we kept this colour throughout the flowers etc.

Things we DIY’d/made ourselves… We decorated a large photo frame with flowers to use as a photo prop and using a polaroid camera stuck the photos in a wedding book were people could then leave a message for us. It turned out really well, the pictures looked great.

My dress… I still my love my dress. It only took a year and half to find we drove all over the country and finally found it in Dublin.  Thanks to my mum and bridesmaids for their patience

My hair and makeup… I can’t thank the hair and beauty girls enough, they did a great job and made my morning so chilled.  Sian Sharkey (Hair) Anne Maire Doherty (Makeup)

His suit… David and his groomsmen got their suits in Louis Copeland. The lads in the Pembroke row store were great to deal with. They practically knew your suit size from looking at you and any alterations were done incredibly well. I would highly recommend

What our bridal party wore… I bought their dresses online they were from Dorothy Perkins. House of Fraser had a sale on and they worked out really reasonable.

Our ceremony… We decided to do a church ceremony. Our church was Saint Martin of tours, Dunshaughlin. It was a lovely church and BM wasn’t too far away.

We chose our videographer because… he is so talented. We met him at a wedding fair, myself and David got on with him from the start, it made our decision really easy to make. He has a great personality and had us laughing throughout the day.  He made everyone feel at ease and nothing was ever a problem.  Our video was done very quickly and it’s amazing, he did such a great job.  I would highly recommend Ronan.

We chose our wedding coordinator because… Ballymagarvey allocate a wedding coordinator when you book. We had Rachel Gantly, she was amazing to deal with. She was super organised and anything we needed she had it done.

We chose our venue because… we were looking for a country house wedding, Ballymagarvey was the first place we saw and for us nothing else compared to it. It was so different; the grounds are beautiful we got some lovely photos.  The staff are so lovely to deal with, nothing was ever an issue. They made everyone feel so welcome and they took the pressure of us.

Our menu… The menu we chose went down a treat, the food was amazing.

Our honeymoon… We spent two days in the Merrion in Dublin, where we had dinner with the wedding party post wedding and from there we travelled to the Maldives, (if you’re in doubt about booking, just do it, you really do need the wind down after all the planning)

My favourite part of the wedding day… I’ve two favourite parts the first one was walking up the isle to see David. The second was getting ready with everyone the morning of the wedding. We got the room in Ballymagarvey and it was the best thing we decided. It took the stress off everyone and we just had so much fun before the church.

My piece of advice for other couples… don’t sweat the small stuff, if things don’t go to plan….it’s ok. Smile and enjoy your day as it goes by so fast – do your best to grab 10 minutes with your new husband or wife where the two of you can relax and just take everything in.
