What time your ceremony begins really does have an impact on your entire day. Getting the sweet spot is so important and there are a number of factors which you should consider in order to get the timing just right.
You want your day to flow effortlessly with moments to enjoy all the different aspects from getting ready in the morning right through to the very last dance of the night.
Today we’ve got some great tips to ensure you choose the right time for your day…
Consider the season and daylight hours
During the winter months daylight hours are vastly reduced therefore many couples choose an earlier start time, some as early as 11am. During the summer you have a lot more daylight to play with so a later starting time is more popular. Condor what season and month you are getting married in to ensure you make the most of the daylight.
Travel time to ceremony
If you’ve chosen a ceremony location that is far from home and much further for your guests to travel you need to consider this in your timeline. Remember that as well as you getting ready your guests will also have hair and make up as well as travel time to consider.
Ceremony length
The length of your ceremony will be dependant on whether it is a religion or civil ceremony and can range from 15 minutes to over an hour.
Distance between ceremony and reception
Don’t forget about the travel time between your ceremony and reception both for yourself and your guests. Anything over an hour would suggest an earlier ceremony start time.
Photography sessions
Are you having family photos taken after the ceremony or between the ceremony and reception? Chat to your photographer about how long this is likely to take and bare that in mind when deciding on your start time.
With most of your details such as venues chosen it’s easiest to work backwards through your day to discover the perfect starting time – good luck!
