Barnabrow Country House

Unfortunately I was not 100% happy with my experience with Barnabrow. The outdoor space is beautiful but the bedrooms need a good bit of TLC. The restaurant manager was wonderful and did a great job running our wedding. We did have a few issues though which really upset us - Our cake toppers and other parts of our wedding cake were dumped, and the cleaners asked us to leave the bridal suite at 11:30 am but other guests who hadn't paid for late check out weren't disturbed until well after lunch. We also found that information was lost in the planning process as we had to deal with 2 different receptionist. Things would have run smoother if we were dealing directly with Christine from day 1. A number of our guests also commented on negative encounters with the owner during breakfast the following morning. We also found her to be rude, dismissive and very disrespectful. She didn't even congratulate us on our marriage our thank us for our business. We had ~120 people at our wedding and nearly all the rooms at the venue were booked so the owner would have been making a lot of money off our day. It's just unfortunate that she wasn't grateful for that.

We had our Wedding in Barnabrow last Month and I must say that from the second we drove up we knew it was the place for us and after dealing with Susan and Amy that certainty was further cemented. They are the most amazing ladies you could hope to have helping you plan your wedding. They were super fast in all their responses and were always there to answer all our hundreds of questions! The day itself was pure magic, the sun shone even through there was a storm the day before and after and we'd like to think that the magic that Barnabrow holds was sprinkled on us that day. We got ready in the Cottages which are huge and well equipped, we had family from abroad and our own kids as well so the cottages were ideal for our needs. The drinks reception and canapes were delicious and with the weather so nice we were even able to have our musicians play outside while everyone enjoyed the decking and outdoor seating. Now the Food, there is only one word for the Food That Stuart sends out of his kitchen, Flawless! Every single guest adored the food and many have said they will be going back again for sunday lunch. The grounds are beautiful, spread out and quiet, but do bear in mind that there is a lot of steps if you have people in a wheelchair or elderly but there is always a solution so dont let that deter you from going to take a look at Barnabrow, you wont be disappointed. A special mention too for Marcel and all the amazing staff that looked after us during the day, you were all friendly, happy and courteous to the guests and many were singing your praises the next day! As we were there for a few days we had a BBQ the day after in the cottage, to be fair we had to eat inside as the weather was so shocking outside but wow again the food was amazing and lots of it. From both of us thank you so much for helping make our wedding such an amazing and memorable day.

Amy who I dealt with 90% of the time was amazing. The food was beautiful and the staff on the day of the wedding were fantastic especially the barman. Some downsides were the cottages that we had booked they could all have done with more of a clean they lacked proper attention to detail when it came to cleaning .This really is not good enough when you are paying ?525 for 2 nights. The bridal suite was absolutely freezing this did upset me as it was our wedding night so I would have thought the room would have been checked out before hand. This room also needed a better clean. On the morning after the wedding I met the owner in the breakfast room who told me they had put more staff on this morning as everyone had just "descended on the place all at once" the morning before for brekfast, and 11 had only been booked in for breakfast the night before so it wasn't really enough notice for that. This left a rather sour taste in my mouth as it was the morning after my wedding which i had slept in a freezing cold room wearing a hoody in bed and the owner scolded me rather than actually congratulating me or asking how everything went or if everything was ok? I would say for quality of food it is a lovely place to have a wedding but I wouldn't really rate it considering the price you pay after that.

Oh to do it all again, I wouldn't change a thing. Barnabrow House is the ideal venue for any wedding, every nook and cranny is a picture opportunity. The food was a banquet, the staff friendly, helpful and made our wedding planning almost a pleasure. We had a winter wedding and the mood lighting, turf fires and after bar for our sing song will love in mind for ever. Thank you so much for making our day memorable

I cannot speak highly enough of Barnabrow House. We had our wedding there in August 2018 and everything was perfect. The staff, the food, the venue, the atmosphere, the list goes on. Our guests all said they felt like they were in a villa in Italy or Spain (we also had a gorgeous day weather wise). Nothing was a problem to the staff they really went above and beyond for us, especially Susan who is an absolute gem!! Would love love love to do it all over again!! Thanks Barnabrow! :-)

Very professional and helpful staff, easy to deal with and there was no problem with looking at the venue a few times. The waiters / waitresses and bar staff on the day were so friendly & nothing was too much trouble.
