Martinstown House is a beautiful country house built in the 1830s available for wedding celebrations and ceremonies on an exclusive basis. Your guests will have total privacy in 140 acres of private park and farm lands, with mature woods and a stunning Walled Garden. The Booth family share the property with flocks of sheep, cattle, two friendly donkeys and free range chickens who kindly donate their eggs to the kitchen. There are seven elegant and comfortable bedrooms in the main house, and a further three bedrooms in the Stone Yard. We also have a glamping village onsite with 10 bell tents, 5 stable rooms, and a shepherd's hut.
We take huge pride in our food at Martinstown House. We are so lucky to have so many local suppliers for our produce and meat. Most of our herbs come from our own Walled Garden, and fish is fresh from the market in Howth. Our chef has trained in the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Cork, Rick Stein's in Padstow, and in Goa, India.
Your beautiful reception can take place in any number of locations. The most popular site is on our front lawn with our new container bar, The Sipping Container, which is sheltered from the elements with a natural stretch tent connected to bog oak logs that are thousands of years old. The vintage-style Indian marquee nestled in the Walled Garden can seat 240+. We are also happy to be able to lend you our vintage 1966 VW Campervan which can be used on site however you wish. Inside the house, our stunning Drawing Room can accommodate parties of up to 50 in elegant and intimate surroundings.
Martinstown House is licensed by the HSE to hold civil ceremonies and are delighted to host alternative weddings. We have beautiful settings in both the Walled Garden and in the Woodlands ceremony area surrounding the house. This beautiful space created out of the ruins of the original greenhouse, it has a seating capacity of 330, all under the watchful eye of a vast 130 feet tall Californian Coastal Redwood tree. The building is constructed out of reclaimed and repurposed materials, the glass chandelier came out of a big house in Co West Meath, the tin roof is off an Army building on the Curragh that was burnt down in the 1950's. It is fully fitted out for ceremonies with it's own PA system. We have had great success with Humanist, Spiritualist, and Interfaith ceremonies. There are a number of local country churches close by of all denominations, each with their own character and settings.
Your wedding at Martinstown House is made up of thousands of individual moments, the cumulation of a thousand decisions, big and small. The day is always a blur of memories, of dancing, of smiles, of hugs, of old friends and new family, but it is the tiny moments that you will remember most clearly. Catching someone's eye at just the right moment of the speech and the tears of silent laughter that ensue. Holding your partner's hand as you walk up together for the first dance. Sitting down next to your best friend and breathing a second whilst the whole day washes over you. The warmth of the fires, the pleasure of delicious food. At Martinstown House we strive to create those moments.
