The Hardiman

We absolutely loved the Hardiman as our wedding venue! We got married on the 16th of September 2023. The ambience of the day was perfect and all our friends and family had only good things to say about the Hardiman. Also, an ideal location for us, with a lot of friends travelling from other parts of Ireland and the centrality of the hotel. An element, we both loved when picking our wedding venue was the historical aspect of the hotel and the Hardiman is definitely not short of history. We would like to especially thank the wedding coordinator Brianan for all her guidance and support throughout the months/weeks/days in advance of the wedding. She was a great help with everything and the day went seamless for us and we loved every aspect. All of the staff we encountered were so helpful and the food on the day was amazing, we received so many great comments on the food and venue from our guests. Thank you so much for everything – we had the perfect day!

The whole process of planning our wedding was so enjoyable and easy. Brianan was fantastic at communicating with us even though we were planning from London.

All the staff at The Hardiman were so helpful and nothing was ever a problem. As for the day itself it was just perfection. Getting married in Galway City was so much fun too and we wouldn’t change anything about our day.

I would recommend. this hotel without reservation to any newly engaged couple.

We would highly recommend The Hardiman as a wedding venue. The hotel wedding coordinator Brianan was amazing and the whole team who were present the day of our wedding were brilliant. The food was delicious and so many commented on it afterwards how great it was, as well as the service and efficiency of the staff. We had an amazing day and our guests really enjoyed it. Located in the city centre with the Galway Christmas market in full swing was a beautiful backdrop to the hotel. Thanks so much again for everything and all your help from start to finish!! We had our wedding in the Hardiman on the hottest day of the year back in August (30 degree heat!) so the hotel had their work cut out that day. From my first dealings with the hotel over Zoom back in 2020 we knew this was the venue for us. Everyone we dealt with went out of their way to be so helpful and welcoming. When we had to reschedule our first date due to covid, there was absolutely no issue and they were so nice about it all. Brianan and the team are serious professionals - I was quite particular (probably headwrecking!) about each and every aspect of the day and Brianan fully understood the memo and made sure everything was exactly as we wanted it - down to the very second (46th :) !) of the song we entered into the ballroom to, the scratch cards, the props, cheese table ,sweet cart - you name it! We really had the best day and could relax knowing that everything was in safe hands with Brianan. I would recommend this hotel to any newly engaged couple and cant wait to revisit it next year for our anniversary! The best memories made in the centre of Galway city!

Our wedding coordinator, Valerie gave us so much confidence from start to finish, and every single staff member that we interacted with were extremely helpful, professional, and friendly.
Our meal was top notch, very tasty, great choice of menu as part of the package and was served seamlessly, this was validated by all of our guests which was very important to us!
The hotel itself has so much personality and is complimented by its friendly staff.
To add to that, the rooms and suites our families stayed in were exquisite, the recent renovations have kept the classic feel of the hotel but added contemporary style and warmth, a real feeling of luxury during our stay, with a lot of space when you consider the location in the city centre. We’ve been in and out of the hotel over the years and will definitely be back.

On our very first look at the hotel and function room with Valerie, we knew that we wanted to have our reception at the Hardiman Hotel and it was without a doubt one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day! No detail was too small or overlooked by Valerie and the team at the Hardiman Hotel in the run up to the big day and the venue looked fab - exactly what we wanted!
It also warrants saying that we got married in November 2021 and whilst the Covid guidelines were changing what felt like every other day, Valerie and her colleagues navigated us through it brilliantly, keeping us both calm (in what I am sure was a stressful time for them also).
Everything from the drinks reception to last orders was handled brilliantly by the staff at the Hardiman Hotel.
We received countless compliments on the venue, staff and the food from our guests who, like us, had an amazing time both celebrating and staying at the Hardiman Hotel!
We would have no hesitation in recommending the Hardiman Hotel to anyone thinking of getting married!

A Wedding in the heart of Galway for all of our guests to enjoy was always what we had both hoped for. With that in mind the Hardiman was always the number one choice and offered the location that would give both the Galwegians and the travellers an opportunity to enjoy the vibrancy of Galway City centre. From the minute we met with Valerie and looked at the Wedding packages our mind was firmly made up. It was everything we were looking for and more and that was very clear from day one. We worked with Valerie in the months leading up to the wedding and despite Covid and the obstacles that we had as a result we always felt that everything would be ok and were so reassured by the service we received. Nothing was ever a problem and that carried right through to the end of the Wedding Day. We were looking for exceptional food and service on the day and both exceeded our expectations. All of our guests were hugely complimentary of both and that’s exactly the experience we were hoping they would have. Everything about the venue helped set the tone for a day which was full of life and fun and was a day that will long in the memories of everyone that was there!

We would highly recommend the Hardiman Hotel as a venue for your wedding reception. Valerie and all of the team at the Hotel were very supportive and helpful to us throughout the various lockdowns as we had to postpone our wedding twice. When we finally reached our wedding day, we had a fantastic experience at the Hardiman Hotel. The location was absolutely ideal for us to capture the essence of Galway city as part of our day. The reception and ballroom were beautifully decorated and the food was absolutely delicious. All of the staff expertly catered for our guests' needs. We really had the best day and would love to have it all over again!

To Valerie, Stephen, Patrick and all the fantastic staff in the Hardiman, thank you so much for making our wedding day so special. From our very first visit, we knew we wanted to host our reception in the Hardiman. Although our planning was a bit of a rollercoaster with ever changing circumstances, Valerie and the team always kept us informed and supported us so well in planning the best possible day. On the day itself, everything went off to perfection. The ballroom was just stunning and our guests are still talking about the food. We were also delighted to have Alison playing the piano which really added to the lovely festive atmosphere. The Hardiman was the dream location for a wedding. From start to finish the level of professionalism shown by the staff was outstanding Special thank you to Valerie, the wedding planner, who made the whole planning experience stress free and enjoyable! From the day we booked the venue we were treated so well with exceptional food and exceptional service. The selling point for us was the hotel Ballroom. We know it’s a bit of a cliché but we really did have the best day of our lives!! Everyone, as expected, had only great things to say about the staff, food, rooms and the location. We couldn’t recommend the hotel enough!

The hotel team were excellent throughout the planning process, from the moment we first viewed the hotel to the day itself they were always so welcoming and on hand to answer any questions we had. Our thanks are especially due to Valerie our wedding planner, who was wonderful throughout and who ensured everything ran so smoothly on the day. Our guests were full of praise for the wonderful welcome the staff gave them, the excellent food and the beautiful ballroom. Galway in summertime is spectacular but Galway at Christmastime is something else entirely.
The streets are filled with people hustling and bustling, lights twinkling in every direction, the Christmas market is in full swing and the air is rich with the smell of all spice. In the back drop to all this festive cheer stands the Meyrick Hotel (Now The Hardiman).
Imagine if you will a young couple who have never even imagined planning an event such as a wedding to have this elegant, vibrant and quintessentially Galwegian establishment on their doorstep.
To say The Meyrick (The Hardiman) is the place of dreams is an understatement.
From the moment we stepped through the door for our very first consultation to the day we stepped out as Mr&Mrs we were treated like royal guests and made feel part of The Meyrick (The Hardiman) family.
The sublime professionalism of Valerie and her team from start to finish can only be described as magical. No request was denied, no suggestion flapped away, anything that could be done was done.
It was the simple and most heartfelt touches to the day that The Meyrick (The Hardiman) added that made the difference. Such as the tall chilled pint of Guinness my husband had waiting for him on the bar to settle his nerves, the roaring fire in the foyer to welcome guests into from the cold chill in the air of that beautiful November day, the spring in the dancefloor that made people believe they were completely “rocking the joint” to the “How are you feeling?” from Stephen our maitre’d for evening.
It really is the little things that make the biggest impact.
The food and service on the night was second to none and if I could have awarded a Michelin star on the night I would of.
We often drive by the hotel on our trips to the shops and our memories are made far sweeter by the fact that our wedding was the last wedding to be held in The Meyrick as we knew it.
We made history that day by being the firsts in our family to join together, and I guess we are just a little part of the hotels history now that is no longer “The Meyrick”.

Valerie, you were absolutely amazing. We were delighted with you the first day we met you. You put our minds at ease and you were wonderful at talking us through the day and for thinking of all the small bits and extra bits that would make the day that extra bit special for us.
Your communication was excellent with us and you were always so quick at responding to us and we knew you were always at the other end of the phone if we needed you. Although, we only met you a few times, we felt we had known you much longer. You always had a smile on your face and always made us feel very welcome. I can say, without any doubt that any couple would be safe in your hands and they would be extremely lucky to have you involved in the planning of their wedding... Patrick, thank you very much for making us feel so at ease in the last few weeks in the lead up to our wedding. It was lovely to meet both Valerie and yourself before the big day to talk through the day. It was great to be greeted by such a friendly face when we pulled up to the hotel on our wedding day. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to chat to you much on the day but I could see you were so attentive to everyone. You told me you would make sure everything ran smoothly and it certainly did.
Ultan, the amazing chef. We absolutely loved everything we tried at our tasting so you really made the menu choice a tough one. We were 100% confident about our meal going into the wedding and this meant so much to us as it was so important for us to have a great meal. The food was 5 star. Each meal was presented beautifully and tasted even better. We were so happy knowing you were in the background. We greatly appreciated the efforts you went to for all of the coeliac guests. Thank you for the chats we had and for reassuring us all would be ok on the day.
Stephen, you were fantastic. The ballroom looked absolutely beautiful. You were so attentive on the evening of our wedding and constantly checked in with us at the top table to ensure everything was ok. The service was top class; so quick, so smooth and all of the waiters were so professional yet friendly. Your attention continued over the weekend to our final departure on the Monday morning.
Mary, you put definitely put in a late night shift and were kept on your toes all night. But you did every minute of it with a smile on your face. You had the bar running very smoothly upstairs and we have had many compliments about you in the residents bar. The tea you served to those who didn’t even ask was a HUGE hit and the gluten free sandwiches you made was very thoughtful of you. Thank you also for the lovely sandwiches for the other guests at the end of the night.
Sonja, you were so friendly to all of the guests and family from the moment I stepped out of the bridal car and we all really enjoyed the chats with you over the weekend. We hope to meet you again sometime in Invern.
To all the staff from every department who helped to make our day special and who assisted in the day running so smoothly, we are extremely thankful.
The Meyrick was an amazing venue to have our wedding in and it is a day we will always cherish. All of your staff were fantastic and this made our day. I would highly recommend the Meyrick to any couple looking for a wedding venue.

Phil and I just wanted to send through a quick email now that everything has calmed down a bit to say thank you so very much Margaret, you were amazing to deal with, our day could not have went so smoothly without you and all of your hard work. I can’t put into words how much we appreciate everything you did for us.

We are over the moon with how the day went. Everything went off without a hitch and we had the best day of our lives! From the moment we decided that the hotel Meyrick was where we wanted to get married, to the planning thereafter, to our wedding day and the days that followed, everyone in the hotel went above and beyond for us, nothing was too difficult.
