The building has many of the features from when it operated as a working mill and a medieval interior that will make you think you’re on the set of Game Of Thrones. The grounds sit within mature woodland, with an idyllic stream going past the mill. They will produce the most amazing photographs.
Catering for up to 150 people, The Old Mill can host your civil ceremony as well as the reception. We have a range of first class suppliers to give you a wedding you haven’t even dreamt of yet.
The Old Mill is run by Carlingford Brewing Company and is adjacent to its brewery and The Táin Taproom. The Taproom can also be used as part of your reception and you can even brew your own beer!

We had our wedding at The Mill on New Years Eve. The venue us beautiful and perfect for a small wedding. We brought in our own caterers,DJ and photographer.
On the day nothing was a problem Dearbhaile and Trish were brilliant. Really fun relaxed party. Excatly what we wanted!

We absolutely loved our wedding at The Old Mill! The venue is exquisite, but beyond that, their staff are unbelievable. They are so helpful and accommodating. Dearbhaile, their wedding coordinator, walked with us through the whole process, and it went smoother than we ever would have expected. By the end of the night, multiple guests had commented on how kind and welcoming the staff were. Two weeks later, we and our families are still gushing about how blown away we were by their kindness and excellent service.
We had about 100 guests, and the space was very comfortable. The set up was perfect for the reception because there is a big room for the dance floor, and some smaller, cozy areas around the bar for others to sit and chat or get drinks. We were able to get beautiful pictures inside as well as outside - the grounds are beautiful! The decorating was very easy, as it is already a charming place without decorations. All we needed were some fresh flowers and candles to push it over the top. We would give our heartfelt recommendation to any friend looking for a wedding venue without question.

The old mill was our first and only choice for our special day it did not disappoint derbhaile and des where amazing everything from the lay out ,ceremony room,dinning room to dance floor was perfect I would highly recommend this venue if your looking for something unique and special, thank you all at the old mill our day was a dream come true.

Where do I even begin!? I can not recommend the Old Mill enough as a wedding venue. It truly was the best day of our lives and that is thanks to the dedicated team. Right from our first meeting with Des, he couldn't do enough for us. James was an absolute gentleman when we were sampling the beers! Then when Dearbhaile came on board we were filled with such confidence that our day would be perfect.
A few months before the wedding, we went to the tap room to sample the pizzas. They were the freshest and most delicious pizzas we've ever had! The garlic bread is a must!
Dearbhaile set up the cake, table settings, sweet table etc the night before the wedding to perfection.
On the day, Des welcomed us like family and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our guests had the best day. They were all so friendly and as much a part of the fun as the guests!!
Dearbhaile didn't stop the whole day including roles outside her job description! She used our Polaroid camera to take photos for our guest frames and I have to say, looking through those photos was the most wonderful and unexpected experience. I could go on and on but if you want a venue that is unique and special as well as having staff who treat your guests with as much care and attention as if it were their own family and friends, then definitely pick the Old Mill!

I'm finally home from my honeymoon and can sit down to write this review with enough thought put into it. My husband and I got married at the Old Mill on 31st August and it was the best day ever! Des, Dearbhaile and all the crew at Carlingford Brewing went above and beyond for our friends and family. The venue was amazing with all it's nooks and crannies, we felt like we were home from home. The staff made sure there was plenty of food and drink to go around all day, and that everyone was comfortable throughout the day. When the night came to an end they made sure that everyone got home safe and sound. I honestly can't think of one bad thing to say because it's just that... there isn't any. Thank you Des, Dearbhaile and Co for making our wedding day "the best wedding that I've been at in years" as many people said to me in the days and weeks afterwards. I couldn't speak more highly of the venue, Des, Dearbhaile and all of the staff at Carlingford brewing company. We had a truly amazing and special wedding day, nothing was too much trouble and I'm so glad that we choose to have our big day here. Back in early 2018 my sister tagged me in a post on Twitter from Lovin Dublin that said, ?You can now get married in a rustic brewery on the Cooley Peninsula and it's SO FAB? and at this point we hadn't visited one wedding venue, The Old Mill was the first on our hit list. We made a viewing appointment with Des and set out on the road to Carlingford.
Everything about The Old Mill is magical, from the moment you arrive you get a sense of being somewhere very special, soaked in history and completely unique. All it took was that one visit and we had fallen in love. We knew instantly this is where we wanted to celebrate our marriage.
If, like us, you are not a fan of lavish, OTT and lots of white wedding venues then you will love the warm and rustic d?cor of the Old Mill. The location is private, and the land is just stunning, especially when the sun is shining.
Words cannot describe the fantastic team who run The Old Mill, but we will try because it is the least we can do to thank them for everything. Des (Owner of Carlingford Brewing Company) is passionate, energetic and a complete joy to be around. Dearbhaile, wedding co-ordinator extraordinaire, is everything a laid-back bride and groom need in their lives, trust me she is just wonderful. The rest of the team at The Old Mill could not do enough for us on the day, I never, not once, saw the bottom of an empty glass of wine in my hand.
The Old Mill was everything we hoped for and more, I wouldn't change a thing.

Now the dust has settled and I've time to think about who I'm meant to thank and who deserves a mention.. honestly if your thinking small wedding this is your place, I had the most perfect day 2weeks ago, the setting itself was nothing short of beautiful, romantic and intimate all the feels you need on your wedding day. Dearbhaile is hands down amazing, she cannot do enough for you nothing is too much trouble and she takes those stresses from you and fixes it there and then, huge thanks to all the other staff they were lovely. We had our wedding at the Old Mill just over 3 weeks ago. The day was perfect from start to finish. We first met Des 9 months previously at the Old Mill and we knew straight away that we wanted to have our wedding here. The building itself is beautiful with a lovely rustic charm and our guests have made numerous comments on what a wonderful setting it was our wedding. Des and Dearbhaile were on hand whenever we needed them and were an absolute joy to deal with. The day itself was so well organised by Des, Dearbhaile and the team everything ran so smoothly. Our guests also commented on the amazing staff on the day who looked after everyone so well and went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a fabulous day. So if you would like your wedding to have an alternate twist away from tradition go speak to Des and Dearbhaile at the Old Mill. We had an amazing day that will always stay with us. I would just love to thank Des, Dearbhaile and the whole Carlingford brewery team for being so amazing and making our wedding day the best day of our lives! From the first viewing, to the lead up to wedding, nothing was too much of an ask, making the build up so enjoyable and carefree. All the guests even commented on how great everyone was on the day,knowing the team by name, really adding to the whole atmosphere of the wedding day. I could not recommended this venue any more ....haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face since last week!! Xx

Wow what a great place.. Myself and my partner Joe got married at the Mill on the 28th May and it was perfect. Des and all his team having been amazing throughout the process of organising the wedding and on the day it couldn't have gone better. Everyone still keeps saying what a great place, great Venue and mostly how wonderful the staff were.
We live in Manchester but luckily for us our family live in Ireland so we visit regularly and will keep visiting the brewery just so we can keep experiencing the atmosphere of the place and of course the ale.
Again massive thanks to Des and the team for such a wonderful wedding day and looking after us the next day in the brewery for more drink and pizzas.

I got married there in September 2018. It was the most perfect day we could have imagined. So relaxed, beautiful setting, great beer, helpful staff.
Des and staff go above and beyond to make your day perfect. Available to meet almost any time, can be as involved with the planning as you need. Super professional. Super reasonable. Can't recommend them enough.

If you are visiting the Cooley area or considering venues for a wedding / special event, I would highly recommend meeting with Des Goldrick of Carlingford Brewing Company.
This time last year we made one of the best decisions for our Wedding and scheduled a visit of the Old Mill in Riverstown ? part of Carlingford Brewing Company. From the minute we walked in the door, we knew we had found our venue ? we contacted Des that day to get everything booked and scheduled the event for 8 short months later. There was no rushing to get everything sorted for our big day as Des and the team were on hand to help with everything we needed.
Coming up to the wedding we were lucky to have several visits at the venue and every time we did, there was some new feature, old stone work or unique part of the building to discover. It really amazed us how gorgeous and stunning the place is ? and how incredible it turned out on the day. It was absolutely perfect for our number of guests, so intimate and everyone commented on the venue!
I can honestly say we didn't have to worry about a thing the day of the Wedding, the staff were brilliant ? so well organised and everything went by seamlessly. We had a beautiful day and stunning backdrop for our photos ? it really is an amazing venue.
If you are lucky enough to get a sunny day, there are lovely grounds to explore. Our guests sat outside enjoying the sunshine and the relaxed atmosphere around the Taprooms. We had some lovely afternoon tea on offer and samples of the various craft beers which are created at Carlingford Brewing Company ? which was really well received by our guests as it was something out of the ordinary.
On our visits to the area we would often stop by the Taprooms for food and a few drinks. Their daytime menu during the summer has something for everyone ? the meatballs are a particular favourite of ours. The pizza nights are also highly enjoyable, you can just relax, enjoy performances from local musicians and take in the lovely surroundings and excellent pizzas!
I would urge everyone to go out and view the Old Mill and Taprooms ? we can't speak highly enough about our experience and can't thank Des & the team for making it a truly unforgettable day.

Myself and my husband, as a couple, are known as the relaxed, fun and adventurous type. We value experiences over materialistic riches which is why we were drawn to The Carlingford Brewing Company. We first became acquainted with this venue through pictures and social media which was enough for us to provisionally agree between one another that this was the venue for us.
We contacted Des (in the middle of the pandemic might I add) to arrange a viewing, this was the only place we had in mind and had no need to view anywhere else. Before I go into the venue itself, I would like to give kudos to Des, the owner. Des as a person is extremely humble and passionate, this is what creates the atmosphere at The Carlingford Brewing Company. Small local businesses do not get enough recognition and praise, neither do the people behind them. Des has clearly put so much of himself into this venue which immediately makes it feel welcoming and homely. From the wildflowers and fairy lights guiding you to the warm outdoor stove area and directing you through in to the cutest, intimate bar. To the exceptional quality of food and hospitality of the staff.
The Tain Tap room is the perfect venue for a small wedding. It has the different indoor and outdoor environments to cater to different people's preferences. The flow between these areas works incredibly well and although it serves as two separate areas it does not feel divided. The warm heaters outside along with the pizza stove and then the woodfired stove inside, gives the authentic feeling of home. You are welcomed into this place by the staff who are more than attentive, polite, graceful and a bit of craic. Your belly is full of laughter, great craft beer and outstanding food. Our hearts were full of love and pride to see our families come together in this wonderful place and to see them well looked after. Myself and my husband felt none of the pressures a newly married couple experience on the big day. With everything running so smoothly we genuinely had all evening to just enjoy yourselves and the company around us.
Our takeaways from our wedding day at The Carlingford Brewing Company:
The staff! Our families still comment on how amazing the staff were.
The owner, Des; the whole process of viewing, booking and the big day itself was so straightforward and easy (no stress here).
The Tain Tap Room and the gardens. I would live here if I could. We are so fortunate to have this place in our memories (and our photos).
