A Charming Blush Pink and Navy Blue Wedding

Articles, Real Weddings

Introducing the beautiful Sinead and Donal! They tied the knot in a charming wedding at Mount Druid. There wasn’t much of a theme, because they decided to let the venue speak for itself. The colours were blush pink and navy blue, which perfectly complemented the venue. We love the personal touches they added to their Big Day to include their children and other close family members in the festivities.

Sinead and Donal met at work 16 years ago and were friends first for the first 7 years. The proposal story from Sinead’s perspective is really sweet and romantic.

“I had just had our daughter and Donal wanted to go away 2 weeks after my daughter was born. At the time we had an 11 year old and a 2 year old so going away with a toddler and a newborn wasn’t very appealing to me. Donal insisted and insisted so I eventually caved. He had booked a newly refurbished thatched house in Louth and he went ahead in his car to set up. When I arrived, there were presents laid out for all of us. When I got to mine he got down on one knee and popped the question. We spent a lovely night as a family that night and then he had arranged for both families to come down to celebrate the next day.”

They chose beautiful shades of blush pink and navy blue! The bridesmaids wore blush pink dresses and the lads were in navy blue. They loved the venue and felt that it had so much character that a theme wasn’t necessary.

Sinead wore the Airlee dress by Madi Lane. She absolutely loved it from the very first time she saw it! Donal’s suit was from Diffeny.

The bridesmaids wore dresses from Boohoo and they were absolutely perfect. All the girls loved them. The flower girl and page boy both wore outfits from Next. The groomsmen wore rented suits from Collar & Cuff.

Sinead and Donal had an amazing civil ceremony, which included special moments like a ring warming and sand ceremony. This is what they loved about their ceremony:

“We had close family friends light a remembrance candle for family and friends who are no longer with us. And we had both our mothers light our taper candles for us. For the sand ceremony we had 5 different colours of sand. I poured half of mine first, then Donal, then our 3 kids poured theirs, then myself and Donal poured the rest of ours at the same time. It’s such a fab keepsake and has pride of place in our home. We had an amazing singer – Jen Brereton. Her voice was amazing.”

They absolutely loved their wedding venue!

“There are no words to describe how amazing Mount Druid is. It’s an alternative wedding venue and is absolutely stunning. We had our ceremony in the Tin Chapel and then headed over to the boathouse for our drinks reception. This is situated beside a lake so was nice to have good weather that our guests could sit outside. We then made our way over to The Barn for dinner. This room is stunning. It has a rustic vibe with bunting and lights hanging from the ceiling. The accommodation in Mount Druid is a mix of yurts, tigins and shepards huts. These are absolutely spotless and we could genuinely not say a bad word about the venue as a whole.”

Their photographer, Ian Hennessy was amazing!

“He knew exactly what pictures he wanted and the photos turned out absolutely stunning. We had our photos back in 2 days after the wedding and we got a gorgeous wooden keepsake box for our USB.”

To entertain their guests, they had a band and DJ. They are so happy with their choice, because the dance floor was full all night long.

“We didn’t do a first dance so thought it might be slow filling the floor but as soon as the lads started playing, that was it for the night. Our guests all said the same thing about them – they were the best live band they’ve ever seen or heard.”

We love getting wedding day advice from newlyweds! Here’s what Sinead and Donal said:

“Take it all in. It really does absolutely fly by. Make a list of who you want photos with as it’s so easy to forget on the day. Don’t stress about the small stuff, in the grand scheme of things it’s insignificant and just enjoy your day.”
