Eimear and Paul met online and got engaged at home on the leap year! Paul proposed just before midnight. The beautiful engagement ring is from laura at Diamond Studio.
“We always wanted a Christmas wedding so we wanted the colours to be festive. We chose raspberry red for Bridesmaids and tux for the best man and groomsmen. We chose a Christmas theme for our tables.”
Paul always wanted to wear a tux and Eimear went for an ivory classic dress. Paul and the groomsmen were looked after so well by EJ Menswear in Sligo who went out of their way to look after them. Eimear bought her dress in Truly Bridal, who were so supportive and helpful. Helen from Zipyard altered the dress and did an excellent job.
The bridesmaids wore Raspberry chiffon dresses. Each bridesmaid picked their own style of dress and Eimear bought the dresses on JJsHouse.com and they were altered by Zipyard in Maynooth. The best man and groomsmen wore tuxes bought in EJ Menswear, who were fantastic.
“We had an intimate ceremony in the Church of Our Lady’s Nativity celebrated by Father Karl Fortune. It was very special and personal for us and some of our friends and extended family came to see us outside the church before we came in and left.”
“We had our wedding reception in the K Club and it was spectacular! I cannot express how wonderful it was for both of us and our families and friends. They couldn’t have done enough for us and knew us all by first name. It was so perfect for a small wedding and we had our meal in the Tara Suite.”
“Ian Hennessy was amazing to us and was such a good fit for our wedding. He really put us at ease on the day and took fabulous pictures. He also was super efficient at returning our pictures in less than a week. He completed a highlight reel with the music of our choice also and it was so special to have.”
Eimear’s favourite memory from the day was coming out of the church married. It was such a special moment for her and she’ll always remember that feeling of happiness.
“We were very fortunate to get married on our original date as planned, however, there were huge changes we had to make such as guest numbers, venue, the plan for the ceremony and cancelling our live music. These things seemed like big things at the time but we both would not change our wedding for the world. It was amazing! We had nineteen guests and our original number was 199 but it was the most amazing experience, so I would advise couples not to get stressed by the detail as you will have an amazing day regardless. I think an intimate wedding is so special and it’s a totally different experience that’s about you as a couple with some family and a small number of friends.”
