We met… on a skiing trip in Austria and ended up in the same ski group!
Our proposal… during a week away in Chicago, Eoghan got down on bended knee and popped the question on a night out on the town.
My dress… I wore a full lace key hole back dress from Essence of Australia.
What our bridal party wore… the girls wore twobirds bridesmaid aubergine dresses and the boys were in black lounge suits.
Our ceremony… We had a Spiritualist ceremony at The Armada Hotel which was carried out by Gary Baitson.
We chose our venue because… of the idyllic background off the West Coast of Ireland and the reputation The Armada Hotel has for their quality service and attention to detail. The staff couldn’t be more helpful.
We chose our photographer because… of their reputation and really good testimonials from people that had hired McMahon Studios in the past. We planned our wedding from Australia so it was a little stressful booking suppliers over the phone. From our very first phone call, Hilda put us at ease. She told me she would be like a fifth bridesmaid that day and that’s exactly what she was. She got a lot of lovely natural photographs on the day and captured many of the intimate moments and every little detail that made our wedding day so special.
Our honeymoon… hasn’t happened yet! We spent all our time at home with family and friends before returning back to Australia. So great excuse to plan the next holiday a little sooner hopefully.
We chose our wedding coordinator because… Our wedding Co-ordinator through the Armada Hotel was Marita. She worked around the clock to ensure everything went off perfectly on the day. She always greeted us with a smile and talked us through everything in the preceding weeks to ensure the day went smoothly.
Our menu… was easy to put together and we loved the fact that the hotel staff offered seconds and thirds for absolutely everything. And if people were somehow still hungry, the pig on the spit definitely hit the spot later in the night.
My favourite part of the wedding day… this is a really hard question! Every part of the day is just surreal. The excitement in the house beforehand and holding my husband’s hand after walking up the aisle definitely brought a little tear to my eye!
My piece of advice for other brides… don’t sweat the small stuff and enjoy the days in the lead up to the wedding no matter how many things you have left to do! It really will all work out just how you imagined… if not better!
