We met… at our local pub and have been together every day since.

Our proposal… Cathal proposed to me at my 21st birthday party in front of all our family and friends.

Our wedding theme/colours…  From the minute we got engaged I knew already what I wanted our wedding to be like. Rustic woodland theme with deep dark wine colours. And we also wanted vintage cars as Cathal is car mad! My hair on the day was a vintage wave.

Things we DIY’d/made ourselves…  We made personalised hangers for our bridal party with wooden hearts twine pearls. Also a memorial table and we personalised all the frames with twine wooden hearts to tie in with the theme we wanted. We made flip flops baskets and toiletries baskets for the men’s and women’s bathrooms. Also all our signs I painted myself as I love to paint we had wild flowers in deep wines and lots of green leaves etc.

My dress… I tried on about 14 dresses before I found the one. It was a Pronovia wedding dress. Lace sleeves mermaid style, very sleek and simple. Just what I dreamed about. I felt amazing in it I bought it in the White Room in Mullingar.

My hair and make up… My hair was a vintage wave to the side. I had a small head piece, I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. My make up I had a light smokey eye and nude lips. I was so happy how it turned out in photographs.

His suit… was James grey bennetti suit slim fit.

What our bridal party wore… my bridesmaids wore gorgeous claret dresses that were slightly shorter at the front and longer at the back. They were very sleek and simple. We got them from JJhouse Online also they wore nude heels. Our groomsmen had the same suit as the groom with ties to match the bridesmaid. Our flower girls had white dresses from Debenhams.

Our ceremony… was In St.Marys Church Edenderry Co.Offaly very traditional ceremony.

We chose our photographer because… Ian Hennessey from the day we met him we just felt so comfortable with him. His style of work was exactly what we were looking for. We researched a lot of photographers but no one came close to Ian.

We chose our wedding coordinator because… Sharon Mccabe was our wedding coordinator at the Hamlet Court Hotel and she was amazing. Sharon was on call at any hour of the day.  Anytime we started to stress, Sharon would reassure us and sort it. Honestly don’t know what we would have done without her!

We chose our venue because… The reason we picked the Hamlet Court Hotel was because we felt so comfortable anytime we visited the venue. The venue has a very homely and warm feel to it and the staff are so friendly and amazing. The ballroom blew us away. It looks really amazing when it is prepared for a wedding! The food is also excellent, so tasty and so much choice.

Our menu… we had chicken and mushroom vol ae vant, the vegetable soup with a range of different breads. Our main was turkey and ham dinner, cranberry sauce gravy, vegetables and mashed potato, or the other option was hake with vegetables and mashed potatoes. And profiteroles and chocolate sauce. The children had burger and chips side salad or chicken goujons and chips.

Our honeymoon… we went to Gran Canaria for 2 weeks. The place we stayed was Playa dal Ingles, and it was truly amazing and can’t wait to revisit!

My favourite part of the wedding day…  was seeing Cathal at the top of the church and just feeling on top of the world that I was finally getting to marry him.

My piece of advice for other couples… don’t stress the small stuff!! Everything won’t go to plan but don’t stress out and get upset because honestly the day goes super fast and you waited for it long enough don’t let something small ruin your day.  Just enjoy the planning and the build up to your big day because it’s all over in a flash!

What is it that makes your wedding unique? What made our wedding unique was all the personal details, we had our photos on the tables and a memorable table for the people we lost in the last year that should have been with us.
