Chloe and Shauna met in February 2016, through a mutual friend. They all went to a bar in Dublin City, where they played pool and had pints with the football on the telly. There was an immediate spark, but it wasn’t until 2019, when the timing was right after years of being friends, that they finally got together!

Shauna shares their proposal story: “Chloe had been working overseas with the army for 6 months and came home 2 weeks early to surprise me. A few weeks later, we had a 2 night hotel stay booked for our favourite hotel; Mount Wolseley Hotel. On our first night when we went down for dinner Chloe had her plan well underway and had arranged for the hotel to arrange the room for us. After dinner and a glass of wine we went up to the room and Chloe got down on one knee with my grandmother’s engagement ring. It was perfect.”

They went with a green foliage, ivory and blush theme for their Big Day!

They both wore gorgeous ball gown style dresses with trains. Chloe’s was sleeveless with lovely details, particularly at the bottom and went into a v on the front, paired with a fingertip length veil. Shauna went with a long sleeved dress that was very full on the bottom with glitter. For the ceremony Shauna had a cathedral length veil and for the reception she had a fingertip length veil.

The bridesmen wore navy teamed with brown shoes and the bridesmaids wore forest green in different styles.

“The ceremony was very personalised and focused on our journey together. Our celebrant was absolutely fantastic and brought warmth as well as some humour to the table which was great. There were also a few very funny things that happened during the ceremony which made us all laugh. One being that I couldn’t get Chloe’s ring on because of the heat and afterwards when we went to light our Unity candle, we blew it out accidentally. Absolutely hilarious.”

They hosted their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Wolseley Hotel!

“Our venue was really really fantastic. I genuinely can’t even put into words how helpful all of the staff were, both on our journey up to our marriage and the day of our wedding. Professional but completely warm and attentive. Between Danielle and Camilla in the wedding team to the front of house, Sinead and Liz and the bar manager Stacey we were really treated like royalty. We had mixed showers on our day and there were plenty of photo opportunities within the hotel which was lovely. The ceremony room and the function room were both a lovely size too with ambient lighting in the function room really setting the mood.”

Everything was beautifully captured by Eddie from R&E Duo Photography and Renee from Wildvibes.ie on video.

“Eddie from R&E Duo photography did our wedding and he took some absolutely amazing snaps. Was very impressed with the pictures that we got back.”

They gifted all their guests a hangover recovery kit with the usual essentials in them, minus any medication or chewing gum. They also included some funky glasses and later brought out the foam glow sticks, which were a huge hit! The dance floor was full all night, thanks to their band and DJ, After Dark, who really knew how to keep people up having fun.

Shauna shares their favourite memories from the Big Day:

“We have a few but I’ll never forget walking arm in arm with my dad and seeing my wife for the first time at the top of the aisle. She looked an absolute vision. The ceremony was definitely our highlight (though the craic at the reception was absolutely mighty). Our celebrant made the experience so meaningful for us and it’s a memory I will forever cherish.”

Newlyweds give brilliant advice for other couples planning their wedding. Here’s what Chloe and Shauna had to say:

“Don’t sweat the little things and don’t take yourself too seriously. Have fun and be present. We had the funny hiccups during the ceremony where we broke our heart laughing and those moments were definitely highlights for us. I also started my morning with a relaxing bath and for the rest of the morning, what followed was a morning of enjoyment, laughter and nothing stressy. Enjoy every minute. This is one of the biggest moments of your life and it certainly was the second best day of our lives (next to the birth of our baby girl). I think about this day all of the time and I can’t help but smile, it was truly everything we could have wished for and more.”
