Real Weddings

A beautifully timeless Irish wedding, featuring classic decor and attire.

Names: Amy Collins & Seamus Harrold

Length of engagement: 14 months | Wedding Date: 11-11-2016

Wedding location: Salthill Hotel | Photographer: Sarah Connolly

We met… through family.

Our proposal… on a random Tuesday evening (when I least expected it, he thought it was the only way he could surprise me) while we were out having dinner.

Our wedding theme/colours… Classic style, colours were based on white and liberty purple.

My dress… custom made by Orlaith Carroll of The Attic Bridalwear.

My hair and makeup… Hair– Ronan from The Face Hairdressing, William Street Galway.

Makeup– Pauline Fletcher, Galway.

His suit… From Hanley’s Menswear.

What our bridal party wore… Purple Bridesmaids dresses from Wedding World, Shoes Monsoon & Jewellery from SORU, London.

Our ceremony… St. Marys Church the Claddagh.

We chose our photographer, Sarah Connolly, because… we were impressed with her work, relaxed attitude around us and Sarah really became part of our day in a non-intrusive manner. It was refreshing to have her with us and she understood the priority of enjoying the day also.  Receiving the photos, we were amazed at how much she was able to capture and the natural form that is throughout the collection. The day of the wedding, it was such a challenge as the weather was a typical miserable November, her approach was sympathetic to that and her ideas for photo location brought out the best in us!

We chose our venue, Salthill Hotel because…it had a great reputation for its relaxed atmosphere, sociable environments and it’s a hotel that we have celebrated many occasions in.

Our menu…I honestly can’t remember this one, but it was yummy!!

Our honeymoon…Mauritius.

My piece of advice for other couples… Enjoy the build-up to the wedding, don’t be holding out for the big day. Our special memories are in the lead-up and the planning, the actual day itself brought to a close an unforgettable experience.

If the couple has children, invest in having them minded. It will give you great piece of mind that someone is watching out for them and it will avoid meltdowns or still running around at 1 am (or the bride having to go to bed early). We asked a lady from the crèche to come to my house at 10:30 and she stayed with our daughter till 10:30 the following morning. She had a great day and that helped us enjoy it also.
