Dear Rebecca,
I know that we spoke briefly over the phone just a couple of days after my wedding reception with you in the Loft Restaurant, and I tried to express then how pleased
I was with everything, but I am emailing you now, over two weeks later, for I want to formally describe our experience of the day.
I can honestly say that from the moment we walked into the Abbey Tavern after our afternoon wedding, every single touch was perfect! Minnie's bar was a warm and
welcoming space and guests chatted in relaxing and comfortable chairs as the champagne and teas / coffees were served. Our French guests particularly enjoyed the genuine Irish bar environment and the warm Irish welcome. Indeed, I cannot over-emphasise how
warm and attentive all the waiting staff were, even though some were perhaps just teenage girls. I noticed glasses topped up and teas / coffees offered in a completely unobtrusive way, but with a professional smile.
Though, when I went upstairs, I was so taken aback by how beautiful the restaurant looked. Of course, I had loved the restaurant, with its open fires, cosy leather
booth and open-brick when I had first seen it, but the linen table cloths and table settings were beautiful. Guillaume and I were also greatly surprised and touched by the personalised menus and candle lamps, which really added to the sense of occasion and
made us feel special. Indeed, at this point, I was so proud and delighted by the look of the restaurant that I didn't care about the food.
However, no sooner had the first course been served, and I heard the pleased murmurings of my guests? comments, that I realised that the food was delicious. As
you might expect, my husbands? French family love their food and they raved about the sea food chowder and the salmon main course, in particular. Among my Irish guests, I heard repeated praise for the roast beef and chicken main courses, and surprise at the
range of vegetables. Also, some of my nieces and nephews are terrible eaters, but my sister later told me that nothing was too much trouble, and her kids were delighted when offered chicken and chips. I must also emphasise how, throughout the evening, Susan
was ever watchful and occasionally gave me very welcome advice on the order of things, eg. to cut the cake before the speeches. Under her experienced eye, the dinner service was smooth and the pace of each course was perfect.
Finally, I was so glad that I listened to your advice on the possible value of a DJ. Ken played a wide range of music and, God love him, he kept 10 children
dancing from 9pm to 11pm. With the children amused, my bothers and sister got to relax and enjoy the after-dinner chat. Then, when the children went home, the adults took to the dancefloor.
Therefore, I would like to thank the Abbey Tavern staff and management most sincerely for hosting and managing my wedding reception dinner. From my first meeting
with you, Rebecca, I found the whole experience warm and attentive, while highly professional and with careful attention to every last detail. Thanks to all of your efforts, we enjoyed a perfect wedding reception and were proud and delighted to have chosen
the Loft Restaurant.
Warm regards and heartfelt thanks,
Gina and Guillaume
