We met… We met ‘where the gang goes’, Tamangos on a Thursday night in June 2004. And we’ve been inseparable ever since. It only took him 10 years to ask me to marry him. Good job I’m a patient girl.
Our proposal… It was on my birthday – Ian woke me up and asked me to come downstairs where he had candles lit and roses everywhere. He sat me down and handed me a card with ‘Will You Marry Me’ inside and when I looked up he was on one knee with a ring in his hand. He said how much he loves me and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
My hair and makeup… I trusted my aunt Joan Cassidy for my hair and she did an amazing job. It was great having her there as it made us all feel so relaxed. Makeup by Grainne did my makeup. I wanted a very natural look and she did a fantastic job. I was really happy with how everything turned out.
My dress… I found my dress in The Bridal Corner in Glasnevin. They gave me some great advice and the customer service was second to none. They made everything so easy. It was exactly what I was looking for.
Our ceremony… was at The Church of the Resurrection in Bayside where I grew up which made it extra special. It was really emotional having my dad walk me up the aisle. The ceremony was a mixture of tears, laughter and pure happiness.
What our bridal party wore… the girls wore glitzy gold dresses to add some bling. It was important to me that everyone felt comfortable in what they were wearing. I thought they all looked amazing and they all said they loved wearing them. The lads all went for black tie from Swords Formal Wear.
We chose our photographer because… myself and Ian are big fans of photography so choosing the right photographer was really important. We both loved Aidan’s (Aidan Beatty Photography) unique style of photography. He was great fun to work with on the day and made us both feel really relaxed in front of the camera. We are both delighted with the final outcome. I would definitely recommend him to any bride still in search of a wedding photographer.
We chose our venue because… it was important to the both of us that we had a private wedding venue. Boyne Hill House Estate became our own little hideaway for the day. It is such a unique venue with so much character and a lovely atmosphere. They also have a beautiful secret garden which was perfect for all the photos. All the staff at Boyne Hill House were so helpful and friendly and made our families and friends feel so welcome. The food and hospitality was something myself and Ian will never forget.
My favourite part of the wedding day… there are so many moments it’s impossible to choose one. Just being surrounded by all our family and friends made the day so special.
My piece of advice for other brides… the day goes so fast. Try to enjoy every minute of it and don’t sweat the small stuff.
