Initial consultations and on-boarding went well. We had a few communication delays via email, but for the most part, Pauline and her team were professional, and seemed to almost intuitively understand what we were asking for. We were planning from Los Angeles, so it was done entirely by zoom and email. We were confident that they knew what we wanted, as we had confirmed via lists, emails, and conversations beforehand. Our specifications weren’t difficult, but weren’t totally run-of-the-mill either; for example, we had a custom chuppah built and styled (and to our delight, they not only knew what we were asking for, but had made at least one before).
On the day, it felt like some of the wishes that we had clearly communicated were not passed along to the team who set up the ceremony space. We had specified how we wanted a shawl draped (it’s a family heirloom, and we sent photos and described how it should be done); they confirmed this and sent similar photos in response. The team setting up seemed not to have received any of this information, and resorted to asking our officiant, who didn’t know, and had to try to track us down as we were getting ready. He ended up just guessing as we were short on time, so it wasn’t done correctly and it caused him to miss the groomsmen-getting-ready photos that he was supposed to be included in. We also specified a 10-foot wide aisle, which was necessary both for the bride’s dress and for the custom of walking with both parents in our culture’s wedding celebrations. This also didn’t make it to the setup team, and a member of our family had to go out with a tape measure and ask the team to reconfigure the aisles to the specified width. To be overly nitpicky, it also felt like the florals on the chuppah were a bit more sparse than we had hoped. We really couldn’t have been more organized or clear, so the communication issues must have been internal to Frog Prince.
BUT–all that said, their work was absolutely gorgeous. In particular, they transformed the reception space (Baronial Hall); several guests commented on how it took their breath away, and we found it stunning. It exceeded our expectations, and it felt like they took every bit of direction there and used their own expertise to make the space perfect. They were also flexible with rain contingencies (always a possibility in Ireland) and we appreciated how they could re-use florals from the ceremony in the reception space.
Their general attitude is that they can do whatever you like. We had specific buttonholes that are rather delicate; they advised us to wait to put those on until the last minute, so they’d look as fresh as possible. That attention to detail is rare and appreciated.
We’d recommend them, particularly if they smooth out some of the intra-team communication issues. If you look at their photos online, what you see is truly what you get–they are absolutely that good.
