The Village Barn and Willies is an exclusive hire quirky wedding venue located in the very picturesque village of Tyrrellspass in Co Westmeath.  Family run by David Smyth and his daughter Amy, the Village Barn boasts cobble lock courtyard, extensive gardens, the Sanctuary, the Orangery and main barn and Willies Bar.  Whether you are looking for small intimate gathering or a large craic fill day, we are the perfect space to celebrate the most memorable day of your lives with your nearest and dearest. A dedicated manager on the day ensures that your day is stress free and fun filled.

Willies Bar

We have our own Local Bar Willies open all year round, the ideal location for a pre ceremony drink or an exquisite whiskey form our extensive collection or a creamy pint of Arthur's finest! A warm welcome always awaits with the fire lit in the colder months.

The Sanctuary

Our sanctuary complete with pews, is the ideal setting for exchanging vows surrounded by your nearest and dearest.  Boasting lots of natural light and stained glass it is licensed for civil ceremonies, blessings and civil partnerships and complete with PA system and balcony.

The Orangery

Our Orangery, a mix of old stone walls and rustic glazing, boasts an eclectic mix of furniture, grape vines and fully stocked bar.  The perfect spot for the pre dinner drinks reception, night before family gathering or a small intimate Day 2 celebration.  It can extend via 2 African tent options to keep up to 200 guests dry!!

The Courtyard and Gardens

Our cobble lock courtyard with its abundance of florals is what greets you.  Rambling on through the big red gates down the old lane will bring you to the sanctuary while going through the little red gate will bring you directly to the gardens and eventually to the orangery.  Always well maintained by our brilliant gardener Teresa, both locations are the perfect backdrop for photos but posed and natural!!

The Barn

Rebuilt to match the layout of an old store area, bakery and hardware, the Barn boasts panoramic windows making the most of it rural setting, an abundance of natural light, airy high roofs and lots of cozy corners.  With a seating capacity of 200, fully stocked bar and stage, its the perfect location for small intimate weddings of 50 but equally works for numbers up to 200.  Old tables and school desks with mismatched chairs feel perfectly at home on the polished concrete creating a relaxed chilled out atmosphere for you and your guests.

Our Food

Coming from a beef farm just 25 minutes away and owning a catering company, our food offer is carefully prepared and cooked onsite using locally sourced ingredients.  All our desserts are homemade and rumour has it our ice cream is amazing!

Our Staff

We are blessed to have a great crew who always give 110%, many who are with us since we started. Junior in Willies will tell a great story (in fairness when you're around as long as he is it's not surprising) while Catherine down in the barn always ensures that everything is spot on and ready for the day!
