A Fabulously Fun Wedding With Good Food And Good Craic

Articles, Real Weddings

Meet Catherine and Cathal! This gorgeous couple planned a wedding that revolved entirely around taking care for their guests. Their priority was good food and good craic and that’s exactly what they got!

Catherine and Cathal met all the way back in secondary school!

This is their beautiful proposal story:

“Every year my family go to Inis Oirr, the smallest of the Aran Islands. We spend the week swimming, playing games and having the craic. The minute Cathal joined us he instantly fell in love with the place. It has always been a special place for us so Cathal decided to give me the surprise of my life in July 2021 and propose on the small beach in Inis Oirr, a week we will never forget!”

They chose not to have a theme, but to rather focus on their main priority which was to ensure that all their guests were well looked after, with good food and good craic!

Cathal wore a black tuxedo with a velvet jacket from Aston Formal Wear. Catherine wore La Premiere Bridal “Floating Away” dress from Verona Bridal with cathedral length veil.

The groomsmen wore black tuxedos again from Aston Formal Wear and the bridesmaids wore forest green full length satin dresses from Dresscode.

“Fr Paul O’Boyle married us in St Cocas Church in Kilcock. Fr Paul is a family friend and married both of our sisters so it was really special to have him share our day with us. He kindly gifted us a beautiful holly tree to plant in our home which is incredibly special.”

“We got married in The Hamlet Court Hotel. To say we and our guests were blown away would be an understatement! We always knew we would get married in The Hamlet Court because it really is a home away from home with outstanding service and unbelievable food but we still can’t believe how amazing the whole team were!

John, Mo, Anne and Sharon are true professionals and were so helpful and supportive in the lead up to the wedding – nothing was too much hassle!
Our guests are still raving about the unbelievable food we had all weekend (including the rasher sambos at 2am!!) and the warm atmosphere that all the staff created.

We honestly cannot recommend The Hamlet Court enough. If you’re looking for top class service, unbelievable food and the best place to throw the party of a lifetime you honestly don’t need to look any further than The Hamlet Court Hotel.”

Catherine and Cathal’s wedding was beautifully captured by Ian Hennessy!

“We are absolutely blown away by his pictures. Ian is incredibly talented and we are so grateful that he shared our day with us. Ian has such a lovely kind friendly manner, you would barely know he was in the room yet he still produces the most amazing photos. We absolutely love our pictures, we think he captured the day perfectly. We love the photos of our guests too, it’s so nice to be able to share them with everyone!”

Their beautiful video was created by You and Me.ie!

“Booking Barry from You and Me.ie was an easy decision as he captured both my sister and brother’s wedding and I knew we would be in safe hands!
Barry and Ladia are absolute gents and it was so nice to have them share our day with us. They are incredibly talented and really captured the love and fun that surrounded us all day! We got a beautiful short video only a few weeks after the wedding which was so nice to look back on!”

They decided to make a donation to the Irish Cancer Society in lieu of favours.

Catherine and Cathal share their favourite memory from the Big Day:

“We have both said the trip from Donadea Forest where we got our photos to the Hotel was one of our favourite parts of the day. It was so special to have the time together and have the chats to soak it all in! Our first dance was also really special – the list could go on!”

Newlyweds always give brilliant advice! This is what Catherine and Cathal had to say:

“I know everyone says it but it couldn’t be more true – don’t sweat the small stuff. As long as you are both having fun so are your guests and at the end of the day that’s all that matters!!”
