Lace is still big news for the upcoming seasons, sleeves, cover ups – strapless is left for the evening with little capelets or jackets worn for the daytime, colour such as blush or champagne, hints of metallics whether it’s in belts or beading. And of course the upcoming royal wedding will have a big influence on trends for the upcoming season.

Bridal Trends for 2018/2019 are Classic and Traditional but with a modern twist. For example, traditional A-Line skirts with low backs and illusion necklines. Fitted crepe gowns are part of most bridal designer collections this season, along with plunging necklines and dramatic trains.

Personally I think the trends are changing which is a good thing, for many years we have seen the deep V dominate bridal trends. Brides are definitely moving towards more structure, higher necklines and colour! Brides are getting bolder and so are their colours choices, as well as your usual white, ivory and blush we are seeing brides sway towards champagne golds and metallic colours like this stunning Willowby gown available from MK Bridal.

One of the main and my favourite trends for the upcoming season is the off-the-shoulder neckline. Gone are the days where every dress was strapless. Brides can now opt for a look where the straps fall down around their shoulders or for extra coverage and a more vintage look, the wedding gown can feature long sleeves, while keeping the shoulders exposed.
Another trend that I adore is the Veil across the shoulders. It’s such a unique and beautiful way to cover up during the ceremony. For the brides that are looking to change their look, the veil across the shoulders can be used as the central detail for the first look and then showcase the gorgeous gown for the second.
Plunging necklines – a trend that hasn’t missed any runway. It’s sexy, it’s feminine and completely breathtaking. Low V-necklines may also incorporate lace or sheer fabric into the design for added modesty.

The predictions for 2019 are for a touch of colour, but more in the shades of silver/blue or soft golds as well as metallic details – whether it’s on the dress or just in accessories, it’ll be a must have. Rose gold is trending for bridesmaid dresses. Bodices are becoming more structured with fuller skirts. Necklines are getting higher, rather than that deep cut, and high low hemlines are going to become more popular. Hair vines are still in and veils never seem to go out of fashion, though finer and more sheer. Now that could and will all change when the Royal Wedding takes place next month, that will be one to watch out for!
