Richard Finlay is a multi-award-winning wedding videographer. For almost 20 years, Richard has been one of Ireland’s most sought-after full-time wedding videographers, the favorite choice of celebrities and well known personalities at home and abroad, covering weddings from big to small and everything in between. He was recently chosen by Oscar nominee Naomi Sheridan (daughter of filmmaking legend Jim Sheridan) to film her wedding.
The wedding filmmaker of choice for many film and TV industry pros in Ireland, Richard routinely shoots weddings for other industry professionals, which has lead to him working on various films, documentaries and music videos. He started filming weddings when he was 20, using his filmmaking background to give a shot in the arm to the Irish wedding market, which was badly needed at the time. Now 38, he estimates he’s filmed close to 1,000 weddings.
Richard trained in filmmaking at ‘The New York Film Academy’ (widely recognized as the best film school in the world). He was voted ‘Wedding Videographer of the Year’ by the brides and grooms of Ireland in Ireland’s first ever online wedding awards. There was no campaigning for votes on Richard’s behalf in order to receive the nomination. In the same year, he was also shortlisted for ‘Wedding Videographer of the Year’ at the ‘Weddings Online Awards’. Richard was ranked among “the best videographers in the world” by Martin Rhodes of the ‘DV Awards’, when he won two awards including ‘Outstanding Wedding Videography’. This was the first time that an Irish entrant won in the category of ‘Wedding & Event Videography’.

Bride & Groom Films produces wedding films for discerning clients who value a cinematic experience, but who also just want to enjoy their wedding day with no hassle, and without the feeling that a camera is constantly on top of them.
Richard will shoot your wedding discreetly – so you, your loved ones and guests won’t notice him too much as he works. It's very much a fly-on-the-wall shooting style, capturing natural reactions, without having to pose people or ask them to do anything except enjoy the day. For example, when filming around guests, he uses a small mirrorless camera body, so people are generally less "aware" of the camera in this instance.

The best images and the greatest moments are captured when the couple and their loved ones are not aware of the camera. Posing and staging has its value and place, but I prefer to be a follower of the action for the most part. I want to quietly observe and find the magic, and not have you pretend. We had the privilege of having Richard as our videographer for our wedding day. From the minute we spoke to Richard we were greeted with nothing but kindness and excitement around our special day. Richard was a total dream to work with from start to finish, we honestly couldn't have asked for a nicer person. Richard kept in touch before and after, and to say we were over the moon with the multiple different video clips we received from our wedding day, is an understatement. Richard is clearly incredibly skilled in what he does, his edits are done with so much care and are filled with personal touches, the videos we received are such high quality with multiple shots, it is hard to believe Richard is a one man band. Wow, I was expecting great things when I booked Richard as our videographer for our wedding, but he has surpassed all expectations. Not only was he a dream to work with beforehand, making it super easy to choose a package and give him the details of the day, but he was super chilled and was so discrete the entire wedding day. So pleasant and understanding. A true professional in his craft. He left no stone unturned and our feature length is the perfect mix of getting ready, the ceremony, the drinks reception, the speeches, and the dancing, capturing the essence of the day. What I loved about it is the fact he captured so many of our guests too. As I say, all expectations surpassed for sure! The attention to detail in the video is amazing, and reliving our day one month on was so wonderful: Can’t thank you enough Richard, you captured a video we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Richard Finlay from Bride and Groom Films for our wedding at Markree Castle in Sligo, Ireland on October 4, 2023. As a professional film editor myself, I had (ridiculously) high expectations! I did a TON of research into looking for the perfect person for the job, going as far as making spreadsheets of every videographer within a drivable distance and viewing all of their sample videos and websites. I was a bit nervous to entrust someone I had never met in person (we are from the USA) with something as important as my wedding video, but I can confidently say that Richard exceeded my expectations in every way and we are absolutely thrilled with how our videos turned out.
One of the aspects that immediately caught my attention was the range and comprehensiveness of the packages Richard offered. It was evident that he understands the unique needs of each couple, providing options that cater to various preferences and budgets. This flexibility made the entire process seamless and stress-free. We chose his "Quentin Tarantino" package as I wanted to get all the raw files etc in case I wanted to tinker with the edit, however it seems that this was unnecessary as his editing was absolutely beautiful!
Being in the field of editing, I am acutely aware of the balance required to capture genuine, candid moments without intruding on the beauty of the occasion. Richard mastered this art effortlessly. His ability to blend into the background while still capturing the essence of our special day was truly commendable. The result was a collection of stunning, natural shots that beautifully documented the emotions and joy of the day.

We wanted to thank Richard from Bride & Groom so much for attending our wedding in Lough Eske Castle, Donegal on the 22nd December 2022. From when we reached out initially, his professionalism shone through. He was prompt, polite and clear in his communication. All of this really helped us as we planned our wedding from Australia.
When we were looking for a videographer we knew that we wanted someone who would capture the full story of the day but at the same time blend into the wedding day background to capture everyone in a natural setting. From the early morning Richard did exactly that, we didn't need much interaction throughout the day as the briefing call we had the week of the wedding set the days expectations perfectly. Everything ran extremely smooth and Richard captured everything that we asked for and more. He also worked seamlessly with our photographer Paul McGinty (Ghorm Photography) on the day and he was extremely patient throughout.
Richard delivered amazing cinematic wedding films that were better than we ever anticipated. The editing, video quality and soundtracks were beautiful matched with the emotion and joy of the day. We were impressed at how quickly Richard sent us the teaser film and the final set of films as our wedding was over the Christmas break and we weren't expecting them for another few months. Our friends and family are blown away at the quality of Richard's work and we are extremely fortunate to have what he created for us to rewatch and share for years to come.

It has been more than 4 years since we discovered Richard and his work. I remember sitting down with my fianc?e when we were looking for our wedding videographer and knowing he was the man for the job. During that time, we had two postponements and on both occasions Richard was so approachable and understanding. We finally had our day in August '22 and on the day, Richard was a joy to work with. He made everyone feel so at ease while he was doing his thing. There were many comments from our family and friends that you could hardly notice he was there. He was so clear with his directions and easy going with his approach and had a great dynamic with our photographer on the day. We recently received our footage from Richard and what he created for us was beyond what we expected, it is simply stunning. The moments and shots that he captured of both my wife and I and our guests are beautiful, and the end production is simply outstanding. We are beyond happy with what Richard has put together for us, and we feel extremely fortunate to have had him as our videographer on our big day. To boot, he is also a total gentleman and a complete pro. It speaks volumes that one of my best friends booked Richard after I showed her his work, and that Richard had shot my wife's sister's wedding a few years previous, which we were unaware of when we booked him ourselves. Thanks Richard for all of your hard work. We could not recommend him enough.

Having researched Richard's work at length we were absolutely confident that he would deliver a beautiful wedding film but we were blown away when we received the final edited version. His personal touches and flawless editing really captured the day for us. Richard adapts a fly on the wall approach which is absolutely true of his work as we barely noticed him/ his equipment through the day yet the moments he captured were amazing. Richard clearly has a passion for his work and is a nice fella to boot.... We could not recommend Bride & Groom Films more highly!

I got in touch with Richard following a recommendation from my photographer, and I am gald I did. He was a pleasure to work with. He was very good to communicate with during the planning stages of the wedding, he responded quickly to any comments I had, which I found very reassuring.
He was very professional throughout the day, arrived at the house that morning ready to go full of positivity. He was able to work away to get the shots he needed and stood back to capture all the activity of getting ready that morning.
Himself and the photographer know each other and got on very well. They made both myself and the groom laugh and smile a lot during the day which was great for photos/footage.
The families on both sides commented on how great he was and how lovely he was to deal with during the day.
Richard had a great number of packages to choose from and included drone footage which is very nice to have on the wedding day. There are options to suit everyone. We picked a short highlight film and the 1 hour film. We are thrilled with how they turned out.
He got some fantastic shots and didn't make us feel too awkward in front of the camera.
Even the morning after the wedding, we both said we were looking forward to seeing the footage, as the day had passed by so quickly. It is so great to be able to relive the day.
If you are considering getting a videographer for your wedding, I would highly recommend Richard.

We received our wedding videos from Richard on Christmas Eve and we were blown away by them! Richard's shot selection is phenomenal and his editing skills are excellent. It was a perfectly finished product when we received each of the videos. We've watched them numerous times with our family and friends and they all love them. His natural approach to capturing the day is really the only way to go. He's not intrusive, but still comes away with the best footage.

We just received our wedding video from Richard and we absolutely love it! We?ve watched it so many times with family and friends and everyone comments on how Richard captured emotion, happiness and fun from the day and put it all together as a story. Asking Richard to record our wedding was one of the best decisions we?ve made. We searched through numerous different videographers and cinematographers and Richards work stood out from the rest. His work is just phenomenal and he is so easy to deal with. He is a delight to have with you throughout the day, he is professional and unobtrusive. Richard offers so much in his packages and we love having the ten minute Signature film to send to our guests. We can?t put into words how well put together our wedding video is. Would highly recommend!! Richard was so professional and easy going and we felt so comfortable with him. He produced a short and long film that perfectly captured our day. The quality of the film is amazing. Its so professional but natural all at once.
We were torn about getting a video at all due to small numbers (and camera shy) but am so glad we did now! Small or large wedding, get Richard!

Richard is simply the best there is. Lorcan and I are absolutely thrilled with the amazing job Richard did shooting our wedding. We only had immediate family at our wedding due to COVID and we only decided very last minute to get a videographer - we are so glad that we made that decision. Not only is the footage out of this world, Richard was so inconspicuous on the day and an absolute pleasure to deal with. We couldn't recommend B&G Films highly enough. We were absolutely delighted with our wedding video. Richard is very genuine and professional, and we barely even noticed he was there on the day (despite there only being small numbers!). He produced a perfect short video to share with friends and a brilliant long video that captured every aspect of our day. Richard also worked very well with our photographer on the day and they were both very easy going, which was what we were looking for. Even before the wedding Richard was brilliant to deal with, even when we had to postpone our original date, he responded to all our queries quickly and put our minds at ease. Richard clearly cares about his work and we cannot recommend him highly enough for anyone looking for a quality videographer for their wedding. You will be in good hands! Thanks a million Richard!!

After booking the celebrant and the venue, the videographer was next on my list as it's so important to me. Richard is a lovely guy, really unobtrusive on the day. The production quality of our video is second to none. We got a short video (about 4 minutes) as well as a long video (about an hour). Due to the COVID restrictions we weren't able to have everyone that we wanted there so the video was even more important. Richard really captured the emotion and beauty of the day, and the video has made some guests who couldn't attend cry! :) It's beautifully paced and carefully edited. Our wedding video is something that we will cherish for years to come, and I am so glad that we were able to book one of the best videographers Ireland has to offer.

We made a last minute decision to have a videographer at our wedding and reached out to Bride & Groom films and could not be happier that we did.
Richard replied quickly and we hit the ground running. From our first phone call I was put at ease that he knew what he was doing and was very easily able to adapt to what we wanted in our wedding.
On the day Richard worked great with both of us and out wedding photographer and blended seamlessly into the crowd while shooting his footage and was really approachable to chat to throughout the day.
The final product was amazing, both our short film and feature film had superb editing and soundtrack and the amount of comments we had about how good our short film was (and how it was like a movie trailer) was amazing. We could not recommend Bride & Groom enough if your considering a videographer for your wedding. If any doubt get in touch and after one phone call with Richard your mind will be put to rest!

Fabulous experience start to finish and couldn?t be happier with the end product. My husband and I both dislike being filmed but it was like Richard wasn?t even there! We?re so happy we got a videographer to cover the day as can?t recommend Richard enough.

Richard filmed our wedding in Wicklow at Brooklodge......he was brilliantly surreptitious throughout so we were completely natural in the film as we didn't even realise he was filming for much of the time!!

Richard was brilliant from start to finish. He has a lovely easygoing warm personality and put us at ease. He worked away in the background on the day and we were absolutely delighted with the quality of his work and all the little important moments he captured that we will always be able to fondly look back on. We were unsure about getting a videographer before the wedding as we had already paid for a photographer. Looking back now, it was the probably the best money we spent. We will always have those special moments. We absolutely love the films (short and long).

Richard's film that he created for us was breathtaking. It perfectly captured our relationship. I had tons of wedding guests say that it was on the best wedding films they've ever seen.

Our videos are beautifully shot and amazingly well edited. Richard is a complete professional, and the best compliment we can give is that we harldy even noticed him the whole day, he blended in so well and worked very discretely. We have seen so many things that we would have missed otherwise. I?m justified now in my decision as we weren?t going to have a videographer at all.
As I read somewhere else i feel it?s actually the best value for money we spent on the wedding. You really do get what you pay for. We would highly recommend Bride and Groom Films.

Richard did an amazing job of capturing our wedding day. Having a videographer was one of the last, yet, one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Richard did such a fantastic job filming our wedding day. He managed to capture beautiful moments in an unstaged manner. The drone footage is stunning and we are obsessed with the short feature film. Richard is an absolute gentleman, from the moment we booked with bride and groom films he was so helpful and always available for any queries. I would highly recommend bride & Groom films. Richard did a wedding I attended where I was part of the bridal party and without a doubt I wanted him for my wedding. He was very professional but also very friendly and just blended into the background putting you at ease. I can't recommend Richard highly enough. He was amazing on the day, so nonintrusive but still managed to capture all the intimate moments. Richard was amazing from the moment we contacted him throughout the whole process. We organised the wedding from Australia, so there were plenty of emails back and forth and Skype calls. He was always very prompt in replying and answering all questions. Richard is well worth every penny we spent. Thanks again Richard xxx

After receiving our wedding video, to say we are delighted is an understatement. It's incredible, and due to in no small part to Richards attention to the little things on our day. Capturing everything we asked for and a whole lot more throughout and keeping us both relaxed the whole time. I was so reluctant to have a videographer for our wedding because I usually hate seeing myself in videos. I also didn't want to add unecessary costs to our day. After many family and friends told me I had to get one I booked Richard. I was absolutely blown away by his work. The amount of thought and attention to detail he captures is incredible. He cought every single emotion I felt that day. When he sent us a small clip both my husband and I cried with happiness (he's not usually the emotional type). Our wedding and indeed our memories of our wedding wouldn't be the same had we booked someone else. He is an absolute gentleman with an amazing talent

Richard was great to deal with. He was friendly, approachable and a 'fly on the wall' on the day and our guests were impressed by how unobtrusive he was. He even turned up a half hour early on the morning as I had told him I wanted to leave the house early to visit my grandparents, who couldn't attend. I highly recommend him to any bridal couple for their wedding.

I received the wedding package on Friday and I was truly blown away. You have really done an outstanding job with both days events. My family were so impressed and delighted with the resulting editing and how you pieced it all together. Thank you so much for capturing such stunning footage that will last a lifetime. In particular my Mom was brought to tears of joy as she has had a tough time with her post-operative recovery. It really lifted her spirits, especially because she missed my brother Abbas?s speech on the day and for her to watch it all really meant a lot to her and all of us! Both the quality of filming and editing are fantastic, and you really captured the flavour of the day for us. We recently got married and have just got our DVD.
Our videographer was Richard from Bride and Groom films. On the day,and even on the lead up to the wedding he was so nice and friendly and easy to deal with and easy to talk to. On the actual day he was fantastic i never really noticed him, he was very professional and very helpful. I was so nervous thinking about the DVD as i hate video cameras and stuff like that but after watching it, i have to say it was the best money we spent. I could sit and watch it over and over again. After all you spend so much time and money on this day and you put soo much effort into it, its great to have it all captured, especially after coming home after the HM and your on such a downer, its so great to relive it all over again. Also the DVD was just shot so well, its really beautiful and professional.

I just recieved my DVD and have watched it three times already. Its brillant and captures every memory,emotion and detail of our special day. I could'nt ask for more. I e-mailed Richard to thank him for the great job he did on our wedding video and then spoke to him on the phone because I wanted to buy extra copies of our DVD. I offered to leave a testimonial here since I was so happy with his work. I don?t have much to say except that you will not regret it if you choose Richard. He was so nice even before our wedding, very helpful and professional. He was on time all day long, we hardly noticed him and he was still able to produce a top-class video. The highlights at the end of the video made my husband cry (don?t tell him I told you) and that is quite an achievement! The highlights are particularly nice because whenever I don?t feel like watching the entire video, I can re-live the best day of my life in 5 minutes and again I am speechless. We decided at the last minute on a having a video done professionally and are both so delighted that we did do this. Photographes are lovely but they just don't capture the day the way the video does. Richard just seemed to get all the special little things in the day that we remembered but don't have photographs of and he managed to even add a few suprises to our video which we loved. It has been lovely in the last two weeks to sit down and just look at certain sections again which I think is more a girlie thing but I just adore it. Both of us would have no hesitation in recommending Richard for anyones wedding and wish him all the best in the future.

Richard at one point during our big day I said to Stephen that you didn?t seem to be doing anything. I knew I had made the right choice based on your work but you didn?t seem to be filming a lot, in fact I hardly saw you at all on the day although I knew you were there. When we watched the DVD last week we both just said ?Wow!? There is so much detail and emotion to every section of the DVD. You got all the small things that I didn?t even see on the day myself. We had Richard film our wedding and all I can say is WOW! He did such an amazing job that in the few days since we received our DVD my husband and I have watched it at every opportunity. We booked Richard back in 2007 and in the interlude between then and the wedding we never once doubted our choice, he was professional and friendly at every turn. On the day he arrived early and got straight to work taking time only to introduce himself to my family and make acquaintance with our kids, especially our youngest who was quite shy on the day. By the time we were leaving for the church she was his new best friend and smiled and posed happily for him. I have to say that is the last time I noticed Richard until much later in the evening when we were getting ready for dancing, such is his discrete manner. He worked away and was barely noticed even by our guests who remarked at his lovely manner and unobtrusiveness. I can not tell you how much that meant to me as I am one of those people who hates to feel ?on show? when attending a wedding. Now that the DVD is here I can honestly say that I am amazed he was not more noticeable on the day as he didn?t miss one second of the action. There is so much of the day that we missed as Bride and Groom getting photos taken and mixing with our guests but our DVD makes it possible to see our day through the eyes of our guests and really captures the atmosphere of the day. I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone who wants a friendly professional who will do a great job without being in peoples faces on the day! We decided early on in our wedding planning that our focus and budget was better spent on video and not on posed photographs. Everyone present had a phone or camera but none of them had the talent or eye that Richard could bring to the day. When we stumbled upon Richards website and looked at previous weddings we were absolutely blown away. We figured he was a videographer well beyond our reach and budget such was the polish and professionalism demonstrated. In fact, heavy hearted, we had actually booked a cheaper guy, but once Richard got in touch we didn?t hesitate in changing. Sure, he cost more but his end product blew everyone else out of the water. It?s not a video- it?s a cinematic masterpiece! His shots and edits, his choice of tracks, his use of drone footage, his unobtrusive and professional manner. Nothing in his package slipped below expectation. It merely surpasses. Our wedding was small due to venue but having a video that we could send worldwide meant everyone got to share our special day ? there were as many tears of joy shed watching tv screens, phones, and laptops around the world as there were among those who witnessed it and we only have Richard to thank.
Memories will always dull and grow dusty but our video will instantly clear those cobwebs and not just re-tell but relive a very, very special day and all who shared it.
Its value to us, our family, our friends and to our future kids, god willing, will always be priceless and our gratitude to Richard accordingly.
We couldn?t recommend him any more highly. Don?t even bother looking elsewhere- you will not regret it!
